"Awesome potential but flaws"
Pros: capabilities, features, mp3
Cons: glitchy software, swivel
Summary: Had the phone 3 weeks now and I really want to like it. Bought it because I wanted a combined phone, mp3 player and the ability to access email while away from the office. The phone does a great job providing all three of the above. I like that it is small and the screen is super sharp and easily viewed.
However, it isn't without flaws. After ending a call the phone powers off then flickers several times before rebooting about 50% of the time. I was originally attracted to the swivel design but after using the phone for a while I am not a fan. Although most functions can be accessed from the buttons on the front of the phone I need to open it to look up most contacts because my contact list is lengthy and it takes too long to scroll through instead of using the alpha keys for lookup. That is the problem. The swivel design is very awkward to open with one hand unlike a flip phone. This doesn't sound like much and when I first realized it I wasn't too worried about it. However, as I have used the phone for a few weeks the swivel design has become a real pet peeve for me.
The MP3 player is exceptional and the email and web access work well and are easy to navigate. The charger/synch/mp3 download/headphone plug is big and awkward. It also seems like it might be easy to damage but I haven't had any problems with it.
I'm going to take it back to Cingular under their 30 day free trial and look at what other options there are. Hope this helps.

I haven't had any of your problems and with any product there is bound to be a couple of glitchy ones. If it gave you problem return for another to see if problem goes away. this phone is the boom for me. I love it more than any phone I have ever used.

Good idea, poor performance record. Bought this 6 months ago. Speaker problems at 4 months. It plays music by itself when left in seperate room. If you put any pressure on the front, at ALL it starts dialing somebody from your call list randomly. I had it sent in for the speaker and not charging. Just got it back, charged it.....two hrs later it started playing music by itself....also this may be a cingular problem, but there are very often delays in getting your voicemails. Also, it sucks that you cant access your call list while on a call.I got one voice mail today that was left dec 28, and its jan 10th!! Never again. The more complex the machinery the easier it is to screw up I guess?

The only inconsistencies I have noticed is tyhat it throws off my bluetooth Earpiece, it just disconnects, for some reason I'm thinking there might be a call back on it soon, i don't knowe though, all the functions of a smart phoine (Verizon's Q), and the Treos, who really needs all that compact functionality, this Phone is great, but the camera could be better in Two years I hope theres a better option with Similiar stylings.

I have made a lot of calls with this phone and it never rebooted once, you might have a faulty phone, if it did I would have returned it by now, this phone its been with me for 3 months now and still works perfect, of course the phone itself is not perfect, as some reviews here pointed out, but nothing to big to make a big deal, Im still happy with this phone, and I hope that your new phone works fine.

Ive had no problems with the software or it powering up or down. Although my wall charger was broken, but i was handed a new one promptly at the cingular store. I didnt think id like the swivel at first but it grows on you. Navigation on this is a so easy, no complaints there.

Its not a really good summary, all you did is say that the swivel was a bad thing. We all appreciate your input but there are more features that you should touch base on then just these couple.

It is interesting how different people see things in different ways. I could never successfully open a flip phone with one hand without dropping it. I've tried many flip phones from different brands; for me, flip phones are ergonomically most awkward to use.
On the other hand, this swivel is a godsend. After only two weeks, I can easilly, without looking, swivel it open with either hand, and it stays firmly in my hand.
As for the headphone plug, I think I'm happy with a bulky one; the small, flimsy plugs don't survive long in my pockets. The cable quickly begins to crop connection when you wiggle it. The large plug on this phone looks a bit sturdier.
That's just my opinion; as I said, different people - different thoughts!
