"Would be a great phone but ...."

by bkscellphoneuser on March 21, 2006

Pros: Bluetooth, size, reception, battery life

Cons: Camera Button, lack of configuration options

Summary: If you own this phone for more than 15 minutes you will get a lot VGA quality photos of the inside of your pocket, back of your hand, up your nose, in other words every time anything gets near the awful camera button on the side of this phone. Of course you hear that great click that says ?stupid you should have bought a different phone? each time. This also drains the battery and eats memory. You want to change the backlight to stay on for more than 5 seconds ? no way. You want to disable those great buttons on the side ? no way. You want to configure the menu ? nope. You get the picture (of everything with that great camera button). You have to be very careful to open it with one hand without dropping the phone. I am very suspicious of the charger system as this phone has a very delicate looking charger system.

Of course the price is good, the Bluetooth works well, reception seems to be above average, phone has a great feel, I like address book, the body seems to be more rugged than the Moto phones of late.

I bought 4 of these for my family (5 days ago) ? If I could go back 5 days, I would have selected a different phone.

Please, please, please Sony if you are listening, please issue a way to disable the camera button.

Get a plastic holster belt clip or purchase a leather protective covering and these will dramatically reduce any/all unwanted pics! I personally purchased a plastic belt holster and maybe have an accidental pic taken once a month or so...but, you still have to be careful when answering the phone....it's just a matter of getting used to placing your fingers below or above the button...! This solution will cut down unwanted pics, but will not necessarily get rid of all of them!
