"has some cons"
Pros: good camera, very nice internal screen, 3G data, FM radio
Cons: battery life, Java permission problem, external screen, timer, reminders
Summary: Nice phone, but here are some serious negatives to consider before purchasing. Check ATT forums and Howard Forums for more detail. Note: I have only had the phone a few days so far.
(1) Battery life is poor. Still testing, but looks like it must be charged every single night to be safe, even with bluetooth off. Carry a spare battery.
(2) External display is tiny and not readable outside. So small, it must to scroll the name of the caller!
(3) No "ask once" option for Java apps (tried Gmail and Google Maps), so the phone asks for permission to use the internet a million times. Horrific for a 3G phone!! Firmware debrand, or a Java settings file hack will be necessary.
(4) Sound quality on calls is mediocre. A bit of that underwater quality, kinda. My previous phone, Nokia 6102 is much better. I have not tried the earpiece (separate purchase) yet - I hope that is better.
(5) The timer does not ring with the phone closed! Only works with the phone open. Stupid. On my last phone, I used the timer every day for cooking, laundry, etc. Very frustrating.
(6) Reminders from the calendar only "bleep" once, so you can easily miss the reminder.
(7) Difficult to flip open with one hand.
(8) As CNET review says, sometimes the UI has a nasty lag responding to menu navigations. But I only saw this a few times.
(9) AT&T disabled the GPS receiver in its branded firmware!
