"What the Sidekick 3 Should HAVE Been And More" on by MarcusOLT

Pros: Screen is BIGGER and Better Qualiy and Battery life seems a bit better, Also the ability to send Picture Text messages and Voice Text messages

Cons: I guess the Battery Life is better then the 3, but also wish it would last LONGER

Summary: The Sidekick LX is what the Sidekick 3 should have been and MORE. Instead we had to live through the horror that was the SK3 and the SK iD before the LX was finally released. I am not sure why this isn’t called the Sidekick 4 but I guess they have better plans installed for the future. I’m a total gadget freak and I feel so quilty about running to the T-Mobile store in Time Square the week this SK LX was released and plopped down 300.00 for this SK when my SK3 was working perfectly. This is a great device but not ground breaking but definitely GREAT. My SK3 was my 1st SK device. I was in shock that the screen colorization on the SK2 was better then the SK3. The frustrating thing about the SK3 was the battery life, the screen display, and the inability to send picture text messages. At points I think I couldn’t even receive picture text messages lol. The LX is a nice upgrade. For the price tag they could have added in sooo much more. There is a sleek sexy look about the new design. I got the midnight blue version and at times it looks black but with the light on or out in the sun its total BLUE. But the LX really is only a cosmetic upgrade. Nothing amazingly new is added in. The big plus of course is the screen which boasts better colors and the camera seems to be a bit better now that the screen has been upgraded. On the SK3 pictures of your faced looked GREEN. But when you added it to a computer via USB cable it actually looked better on the computer screen then it did on the SK3. But the LX can’t record or send any videos yet. The design is a bit on the square side so it reminds me a lot of the SK2 but it is thinner and lighter then the SK3. A nice addition to the LX is you can use any head phones for the MP3 player. Before you had to get only T-Mobile made ear phones but the head phone jack has been changed so you can now use your Sony ear phones or plug in your iPod ear phones and they work great. I love the added addition of sending voice text messages which is a nice plus. But you can only record 20 seconds of sound. Sharp has added in 4 new backgrounds so you won’t have the same old backgrounds as the SK3 & SK2. You still can’t use your own pictures to create back grounds which is a annoying. A nice new feature which I believe was on the SK2 but not on the SK3 were the lights that light around the SK whenever you receive a text message, IM, email, or voicemail it will light up nicely. Like I said I am rating this device a 9. It’s not perfect but it’s getting there. As I stated before for 300.00 it really should have added in tons of new features. Would have been nice to have the voice text messages record a bit longer. It would have been nice if the SK LX had the ability to send MP3 ring tones to another SK device or via email. The battery life seems improved only a little bit but extensive improvement would have been better. The web browser seems to operate at the same level. Hopefully T-Mobile will come out with a better browser. Comparing this browser to the Verizon one, it’s hands down that Verizon cell phone browser wins. Would have been nice to have the camera upgraded to a 2.0 or 3.0 mega pixel and have the ability to record video clips. The memory card slot now sports of Micro SD and no longer has a mini SD. The charger has been changed as well where you can now charge it if it’s hooked into a USB drive on your desk top which is a nice addition much like the iPods. Its nice the charger slot has been changed. I heard so many horror stories of SK3 owners SK’s dying becayse the charger slot got JACKED UP. In the box you get head phones, carrying case, 2 chargers, one for the wall socket and a USB charger which you can also use to transfer songs, pics etc. But it doesn’t come with a wrist strap which is so annoying cause you just shelled out 300.00 plus tax for this thing and god forbid you drop the device. So the inclusion of a wrist strap would be nice guys. Overall I am pleased but hopefully with the next installation next year of the new version these features will be added in.
