"Best Service with the Least amount of problems."
Pros: Tons of minutes for your money and cheap extras. Good selection of phones. Can use Unlocked phones. Great Customer Service.
Cons: Slower data system (Edge).
Summary: After having been with Verizon, Sprint, Pre-Cingular AT&T, Nextel, Cingular, and a few prepaid carriers, I have found that not only does T-Mobile have the least amount of service related problems, but the best in customer service.
I am not one to listen to all these ads about which provider has the least amount of dropped calls because it's never true for me personally. They base these claims on studies done in a few major cities, which doesn't really help the other 75% of the population. So I have tried each and every provider I have ever had in a few different various places that I normally travel, as well as my home town. Some of these places include Lake Havasu City, AZ, Las Vegas, NV, Huntington Beach, CA, Cedar City, UT, The Woodlands, TX, New York, NY, Mojave Desert, CA, Ljubljana, Slovenia, Munich, Germany, and Vienna, Austria. Obviously, the CDMA providers were not tested overseas! As a whole, they all did fairly well in all locations. While Verizon had service in a few more remote locations than did most other carriers, it had the greatest amount of dropped or bad reception calls. T-Mobile has had, by far, the clearest calls and the fewest dropped calls. It also worked superbly in all areas tested in Europe.
As far as customer service goes, T-Mobile can't even be compared to the "other guys". Any time I had a question about their service, billing, or a new feature, they explained it to me and didn't try to pass me off. Since I travel to Europe frequently, I find it much cheaper to purchase a local prepaid sim card to use when I am in a certain country than to pay for International rates. When I tried to get my carrier locked phone, unlocked so that I could do this, T-Mobile was the only company that didn't give me the run around or any hassle about it.
T-Mobile has my vote for best all around wireless carrier. They have an outstanding network and customer service. Even with their slower data speeds, it's still fast enough to use as a wireless connection for my laptop for email and web browsing. In addition, T-Mobile has plans for 3G broadband deployment in late 2007/early 2008 which should start putting pressure on the "other guys"! I don't ever give a perfect rating, but in comparison to the other carriers I have used, T-Mobile deserves this rating.
