"Buy this phone. IT'S NOT JUST FOR KIDS!" on by neiche
Pros: -Awesome size.
-New look.
-Responsive(don't know why the other reviewer doesn't think so.)
-Nice big, easy to read screen
-Great for texters
-Full QWERTY keyboard
-Slides up!Cons: -Can't take video
-People think it looks fat.
-People think it looks gay.
-People think it looks like its for babies.Summary: FIRST OF ALL: I am a normal teen who OWNS this phone. Have had it for 2 days!
Well, a little skeptical at first because I've never heard of UTStarcom. But surprisingly, I really love this phone. I was gonna either get this or th LG Env2. Decided on this lil fatty phone and I love it!
The call quality seems fine. The camera- well its a phone. Not the best camera in the world.
I love the size of the phone, the weight, and how it slides up to reveal a keyboard.
I would call this phone a small blackberry without any smartphone features. Because its shaped similar, and it has a blackberryish keyboard.
At first the keys are a little hard to text on but I've had this phone for a day and I'm getting pretty good at texting on it.
The only complaint I have is people say its fat (which it kind of is). I don't really care, but I guess other people do. They also say it looks gay. It's not.
And also something that really pisses me off is a lot of reviewers are saying this phone is for babies. Seriously? It's not. It's for people who want a very compact phone with a new look that has a qwerty keyboard.
THIS PHONE IS NOT JUST FOR BABIES.
I recommend this phone over the env2 because I like the look of this phone more, the size, and also it's cheaper!

"The Square Phone: My Story." on by hathatshowilaugh
Pros: -keyboard
-color (mine is blue, gray is nice too)
-size (last phone went through washer, hard to lose)
-camera on phoneCons: -even though the keyboard locks, the OK button must be easy to click accindentally because my phone gets on the internet easily. (I don't have the internet, and we tried to disable it.)
Summary: I fell in love with the design of this phone. I loved the blue color and the fact that it had a keypad.
I recieve many comments about "that's your phone?!?!" both positive & negative, but the general opinion is that it's cute & unique.
I was also making the decision between this and the ENV2. I'm glad I picked this one because I love the fact that it slides, while the other just opens. It was also cheaper than the other.
As I said before, the keyboard locking gets a little annoying & confuses others who borrow my phone.
Make sure you like the wideness of the phone.
The screen is bright.
The battery power lasts a long time, but once it loses a chunk you know it's dying fast & needs to be plugged in.
If you don't want the Internet make SURE they disable it. You will probably be charged a lot for being on the internet.
The outbox can only hold 50 messages, and I have a limit so it took me a while to realize it was small. The inbox is 3x the size or more.
I like the icons at the bottom that show you have an unopened message.
I have dropped it several times & it has yet to break. (Even though at Best Buy I saw 5 of these phones and 3/5 had the tops broken off)
Slides very smoothly.
You can talk with the phone open or closed.
the bottom line: I recommend this phone to anyone who loves texting! -
"Excellent for texting freaks!" on by SomeMusicNerd
Pros: I absolutely LOVE the blue color of this phone and the overall look of it. The qwerty keyboard is awesome for heavy texters like myself. Call quality isn't too bad, neither is the camera. The big screen is definitely a plus- vibrant display!
Cons: The keyboard takes some time to get used to. It can't take videos, but I can live without it. There isn't a wide choice of accessories just yet, since it's a new phone.
Summary: First off- I'm a 16 year old student who does A LOT of texting. With that being said, I wanted a cheap phone that was good for texting (i had went through 5 LG VX5300s and 3 VX8350s within a period of 20 months, all because of how much i text). I originally had my heart set on an enV2, but noticed that this was less and was good for the heavy texter. I got this phone for around $30 and it really is an awesome deal for what it is.
The qwerty keyboard is hard to get used to at first, but it doesn't feel flimsy at all. The keypad lock hasn't let me down, since my phone is usually in my pocket during school. I like how opening the phone isn't needed to answer a call, as well as to navigate through all the menus. The camera isn't too bad, it's just somewhat slow- but for a camera without flash, that's expected. For those who want to buy ringtones from VCast, you have to buy them online, download them to your computer, and transfer them via USB cable (which is included with the phone). Not much of a big deal for me, seeing as I make all of my own ringtones. People have complained about the size, but it isn't bad at all.
Overall, this phone is an excellent deal for those who text in mass amounts and want something affordable and stylish. I haven't run into any problems with it within the two weeks of owning it- I absolutely love it, so much so that my mom is thinking about returning her LG VX5400 to get the Blitz! -
"Not quite what I was expecting, but I liked it." on by silverseorla
Pros: display size, cool and unusual look, ease of use
Cons: call gets dropped if the slide out keyboard is closed, I was looking for something a little closer to a smartphone (this is my fault, though)
Summary: Overall, a good product. I will be returning mine, but that is because, as mentioned above, I am looking for something more like a smartphone. If you get one of those internet subscriptions, this comes pretty close, but it isn't meant to be a smartphone. It is meant to be a messaging phone, and works very well towards that purpose.
I've seen some people complain about call quality, but I think what they are saying is a result of some sort of background noise blocker. When I'm on the phone, there is dead silence on the line, unless they are talking. It's as if the phone cuts out the noise entirely unless it can tell that the other person is talking. As someone who is used to a lot of background noise, this really threw me off at first. It still gets me a little bit, but don't worry, the call is still there and the other person can hear you.
Once or twice I have accidentally let the phone slide shut while I was talking and this has cut off calls. This could have to do with my grip on the phone or something of that nature, and it's no reason not to get the phone, but it something to be aware of.
Otherwise, this phone is so easy to use. I don't think I've even looked at the manual and have managed to use most of the features of the phone. The alarm even has a Mon-Fri function so that it doesn't wake you up on weekends. My old phone did not have that so this is something I appreciate. The display is very clear and shows all of the functions you are running. While this is something that most phones do, I like the way it looks better on this phone than on others. It seems clearer for some reason. It's a very pretty color, too, and it doesn't look like every other phone out there. -
"Good Phone for those who do not need a $500 phone" on by barleypopmaker
Pros: The color is not as candy blue as in the pictures
VZ Navigator
Decent FeaturesCons: Seems to have a reputation as a "kiddie" phone.
Summary: This phone seemed to be billed as a kids phone, and compared to a blackberry or I-phone it may seem to be, but I am 34 and this phone works just fine for my needs. But some people, like myself, don't require a blackberry or I-phone and this phone is a nice in between. The keyboard is nice for texting or sending email, without dealing with the numbers game. It has VZ navigator which I don't think many kids need, and the overall quality is decent. Some reviews I have read say that the keyboard is smaller than a blackberry keyboard, and by comparing my aunts blackberry to my blitz, the keyboards are pretty much the same size. Now the sound quality on the caller ID voice is a bit rough, but that doesn't bother me as long as the ring tone sounds are good, which they are. The coverage is good and I have not had a dropped call or any problems with reception on this phone. So if you need a decent phone for a decent price, this is a good phone. If you need it for business applications, this is not the phone for you. You cannot view PDF, Word, or Excel in it like you can a smart phone.
The download speed is faster than my wifes LG Rumor through Sprint as well. Once the phone is open is it about a 1/2" larger than a Blackberrry.
