"Average but expensive phone, Linejack1 caller-id Feature doesnot work and poor customer support"
Pros: Ans.m/c attached, 2-lines...(that is what paid for though!), nothing special
Cons: When both jacks are connected, the jack-1 doesn't display caller-id. - Expensive system - Expensive handsets comparing to other good 2-line eg.Uniden (and caller-id works) phones. Not worth overall
Summary: Panasonic is cheating customers by bogus claims though this is not a true fully working 2-line phone! No matter which line goes into jack 1, it doesn't display caller-id (when both jacks are used, when only one jack used no problem). Panasonic customer support is very poor. I am long time user of Panasonic phones with several phones I used over years, but of late, they lost the edge, innovation and sincerity in marketing and poor customer support. Panasonic is trying to sustain in the phone industry using it's traditional brand-name, but poorly lives upto it past name. I don't think they truly pay any attention to R&D, QA to the phone division anymore. They probably rank very poorly in this space now.
Every other 2-line phone I tested (myself buying another one, and other brands that friends own), doesn't have this problem. I used this phone at friends place with lines it doesn't work. And I have tested my friend's 2-line phone (V-tech) it works fine with same two lines at my home (using same cables, no other change). You already guessed, I tried switching lines into the jacks, still same problem. The line that would work on Jack-2 displaying caller-id, will not display when inserted in jack-1, with the other line that was in jack-1 before now in jack-2. i.e. whatever line in jack-2 will display but whatever line in jack-1 will not display caller-id.
For whole week worked with Panasonic, they switched from one rep. to another a tech. specialist. But he couldn't help, and to hide that fact, he asked me to transcript the stuff in email and shoots another question when one is answered, Like what is your model, then next day what is serial number, then what is serial number on handsets..........I am totally upset that Panasonic has become this worse. Come on, this is about $229,, and I paid $179. After a month I saw on the market $129. No wonder they are trying to play marketting game, and try to sell off this junk. Be careful before while choosing. There are lot of other phones such as uniden (uniden is the best sofar I tested, and less expensive with even few more features), vtech and at&t in the market. One important thing, I have tested the caller-id features work on these phones on both lines!
Watch out before hooked into the brand name of Panasonic. Not only you get ripped off more bucks, but even the claimed features don't work.
