Sony offers an SPP - A985, a single-line cordless phone with digital answering machine. Digital 900MHz is used for extended range thanks to superior transmission technology and you can carry your cordless phone further-and still carry on a conversation. The digital sound technology, same one that stands behind the CD sound quality, offers stronger conversation privacy and voice clarity. The Jog Dial Control is provided for one-finger access to directory dialing numbers and Caller ID memories; simply push the button and jog up and down to find the entry you're looking for; push the button again to dial the number! The 50 Number Directory gives quick access to a broad range of frequently dialed numbers; for easy reference, each phone number is identified by the person's name. The Caller ID with call waiting (20 Memories) allows you to screen the phone number and name of an incoming second call while you talk on the first (requires combination of Caller ID and Call Waiting services). This smart phone is voice guided, although the base unit has a speakerphone and a keypad letting you answer incoming calls at the base. The tapeless digital answering machine records up to 15 minutes of conversation and welcomes the recipient with a prerecorded greeting. And you cannot suffer the loss of a single second because all information is written in power-independent flash memory. The LCD Displays on base and handset units perform call screening. Intercom lets you talk between handset and base unit. Page signal initiates intercom contact in either direction, notifying the co-worker or family member as well as pointing to the location of the lost handset.
