"Excellent Photo Printer"4.5 starson by micklumix
Pros: Photo quality and ease of use, combined ink & paper pack
Cons: Some say the packs could be cheaper, well thats life today !
Summary: I have owned a Canon ink jet and 5 Epson ink jets but would never go back to ink jet again, fully dye sub converted now ! No more running out of one ink colour today and another tomorrow, or wasting ink with nozzle cleaning. With the Canon Selphy you know where you are. One pack contains paper and ink ribbon, you know in advance how many photos it will produce near enough. A 36 pack may give 35 but at least you have a very good idea of when it will run out.
The printer is very small, easy to set up, and easy to use. I have printed some photos on the CP800 and compared them with the same photos printed on the Epson. In my view the Canon Selphy clearly wins with photo quality. There are the other advantages of the instant drying and a protective coating, along with a long print life.
I print a lot of 6 x 4 inch prints and the Selphy will be fine. Large format dye sub printers cost far too much. If I want the odd 10 x 8 inch print I can go to the local photo shop and use their dye sub at a modest price.
