  • "Easy to set-up and easy to use. Exceeded expectations."

Pros: Easy to set-up and easy to use. Print quality is very good. Print speed is acceptable. Small footprint. Fun to shoot and print. Instant gratification. Portable. Some ability to arrange/rotate images.Multiple images (up to 8) on a print.

Cons: Price of Canon-only paper and ink. With flash cards and drives inserted directly into printer could not find files in folders not named as a Canon camera names folders. Only prints jpeg not raw.

Summary: I wanted something to simplify printing 4X6 images. Too much hassle to set-up ink jet with photo paper and make sure all the ink cartridges are ready. The Selphy CP800 does the job. I plugged in an SD card with jpeg images from a Canon camera, used the LCD screen to select an image and hit print. It takes four passes to print (CMYK - one pass per color). The print was better than the CVS, Walmart, Flickr, etc.

Installed printer drivers in my computer (Win7), connected Selphy to a USB port, and the Selphy became another printer.

The Selphy is portable and with a compact digital camera (pictbridge) can be used as a "polaroid" at parties. Fun for shooting and printing.

The cost of a 4X6 is about 35 cents a print including ink and paper. Paper and ink come as a package and it seems to be proprietary with Canon. In other words, printer may become obsolete when Canon stops making the ink cartridges.

I have flash drives and SD flash cards where I copied files to the root directory on my computer for a photo frame. It could not find these jpeg files. Without reformatting I put the SD card into a Canon compact digital camera and shot some images. These it could find. Probably looks for files in folders named as the Canon cameras name them.

Overall this printer meets my requirements for ease of use and exceeds my expectations for print quality.
