"Dell Service, once great, now is horrible"
Pros: Super sharp, great pictures
Cons: Unreliable, extremely poor Dell service
Summary: I've been a Dell user for many years; unfortunately, over the past two years or so, I've seen Dell service go to pot. My Dell Photo Printer 540 failed to print standard 4x6 photos on Kodak paper because it continued to say there was a paper "size mismatch" despite the fact that 4x6 was selected. Then, to top it all off, the hardware would not let me into the printer's Menu; to see if I could reset the paper size there. After staying in the Dell Chat queue for fifteen minutes, I was told I was in the wrong line; that the Chat service rep didn't do "high end" printers.
Value: Terrible, this low-quality, limited printer has very little value for the serious digitographer.
Features: Had the features expected, but one: apparently it only works well with Dell photo paper because there is text to that effect in the Users' Guide. But that is not shared in the Dell ads and promos.
Ease of Use: not intuitive; never did upload card images into the PC from the printer; had to use my HP All-in-One to load my flash cards.
Service: Can't be overstated, the service is horrible. Too bad, it used to be one of the best for service.

Dell customer service has been appalling in the UK for years. They're simply interested in selling and don't want to know about faulty products. We now have an expensive laptop with lines appearing all over the screen - reported to Dell before the laptop was even 3 years old but they weren't interested and getting through to someone who'll take you seriously is impossible. You end up giving up because of the hours of waiting on the phone and getting no where. Won't be buying Dell again.
