Students discover the math involved in everyday living as they take a character from high school graduation to retirement, advising on important education, career, health, and financial decisions. As students work to ensure their character's well being and happiness they develop skills in: applying math concepts to practical situations; creating representational models; data analysis; strategic planning and time management. Students select or create a character to guide through life's ups and downs, helping the character to manage resources to the fullest to achieve personal goals. Students must provide a rationale for their advice, and use math to support the decision-making process. Students learn to live with the consequences of their decisions, and can take intermediate steps to ameliorate undesired outcomes. As in "real life", students will deal with unexpected events - an untimely snowstorm, a parking lot accident, unexpected fame, or having triplets when the doctor said twins! With My Mathematical Life, your students can apply math skills and concepts in age-appropriate social scenarios that show the lives of a variety of people. This program also helps students develop skills in using math to make purchasing decisions.
