"Best game console to date"4.5 starson by BeatleMegaFan
Pros: Great games, achievement system makes things more challenging, compatible with older Xbox consoles and some games, etc.
Cons: None for me
Summary: I've had my share of Xbox Live troubles, but my 360 console plays games just like it should. It's never suffered from the Red Rings nor has it had any hardware failure.
It's just a great console with a few service problems. Until MS gets some sense and switches to backing Blu-Ray, it won't be perfect. The add-on HD-DVD drive is ridiculous, and should have been included... plus, now that HD-DVD looks to be slipping away, Blu-Ray would be a better choice to have in a 360.
And by the way, the 360 has the real power of PowerPC architecture under the hood. Apple went with Intel, MS went with PPC. Ironic but these choices have worked out pretty well. Long live PPC.Updated
and the graphics are very good. The games are great and it is a worthy upgrade from the original Xbox. However, I am currently on my third 360 unit, which bothers me some. My original model lasted 9-10 months or so, a little less than a year, before it suffered from the Red Rings of Death. It was a very quiet machine and it never showed any problems until that point. My replacement unit arrived two weeks later only to have the loudest DVD drive I have ever owned. Another two weeks passed and it got the RRoD too. Microsoft replaced both my power brick and the console the third time around, and so far, this 360 hasn't had any issues.
But, my current model has an even louder DVD drive, and it generates enough noise to drown out my (42-inch or so) TV in some cases. I prefer the 360 still only because of the games. So far, the PS3 has only a few exclusive titles, and neither of them can compete with games such as Halo and Mass Effect, etc. Also, the PS3 has Blu-Ray already, looks better aesthetically, and is built with a higher quality. There are fewer reports of any PS3 failures than 360 problems, and many people have said that their Playstations can be left on for days. Impressive. In the future, the PS3 will gain more games and better graphics, once the developers learn to write for the PS3 architecture better, but until then, the 360 is the console to have. Plus, Xbox Live is great to use when it works.
