"My favorite portable in years"
Pros: Totally fun system, very unique and interactive, great system
Cons: Wish it had some features of the PSP
Summary: This is by far my favorite portable system in years, and the first sytem I've been interested in buying (in general) since the GameCube. At $130 you get a lot for the money. The dual screen is really great and makes even some familiar games from the past new and different.
The touch screen is really great and makes the system very unique as well. I hope that more games choose to use this more and more in the future, I think it is a great feature and really sets it apart from some of the competitors.
The size is great, you can slip it right in your pocket and go. I like that you get two, nice size screens, but because of the way it is built, it is not too large.
The system itself looks pretty good and fits in quite well with other popular gadgets at this time.
I wish a sample game or something was included with the system. A lot of people like the ability to buy it, take it home and you are ready to go. I chose to buy Super Mario Bros when I purchased my system, which ended up being a great choice. Not only did I get a great game, but it also includes several mini-games that are fun as well. I wish something like those mini-games was included.
I like the cartoon-like screen on the DS as well, but I wish the DS offered a screen that was more crisp like the PSP and could also play videos, music, pics, etc. from a memory card and had some more of those features, but for the price you can't beat it.
I've been used to always using AA or AAA batteries in my games, so I like having the rechargeable battery, but I do wish that you could have the option to replace it on the go, rather than having to unscrew it and everything to play.
I'm really pleased with my DS Lite, it took my some time to make my decision, but I definitely think I made the right one. I mainly decided to go with the DS because of the game selection, I'm not a hardcore gamer or anything like that and i enjoy the fact that the DS offers several games from my childhood that I loved to play when I was younger, but still offers some of the best games from today.
If you are wanting a gaming device that offers really fun games, is easy to use for everyone and does lots of little things, this is definitely the portable system for you.
However, if you are in the market for higher end graphics, and some of the more demanding games, as well as the ability to play music, watch videos, etc. on the go, then something like the PSP is probably a better choice.
