Summary: honestly people...the DS, PSP, SP, and GBA were all supppose to be "portable" gaming systems. well, were any of them really portable? they're all pretty darn big and i'm sure you wouldn't want to put those so called "portable" systems in your pant pocket daily. nintendo is on the right track. true, it's the same concept as with the GBA and the SP but it's now smaller and more attractive. nintendo will finally tap into the female market with it's attractiveness(my girlfriend does not play games yet she wants a gameboy micro). i dare say that this is one of the first portable gaming system to be truly PORTABLE.
as for everyone else out there who keeps complaining about nintendo remaking the gameboy over and over again here's something to think about. at least when nintendo remakes the gameboy they add enhancement, they make the gameboy better. they give the gameboy a better screen, better backlit, better battery and so on. so many of you are complaining that the gameboy is played out and that nintendo should stop remaking it, yet none of you seem to remember when sony remade the playstation and playstation 2. and if i remmeber correctly, the remakes of both the playstaion and playstation 2 had little to no enhancements to them whatsoever. all they did was make it smaller, yet people still bought into those systems. so for you people out there who keeps bashing the gameboy micro which btw isn't even out on the market yet, stop complaining. and one more note, for those few comments that i've read in regards to how nintendo should ditch the gameboy phase and create something "great" like the PSP...all i can say is, at least with the gameboy you get decent games. just keep in mind that you buy a portable gaming system to play games not to watch movies or listen to mp3's. a system that can do one thing and one thing well is better than a system that can do many things but only at mediocre quality. -

Summary: Good god, there have been so many people bashing the GBM; attacking it because it is "just" another series to the GBA. It is NOT meant to be a "next-gen" hand-held or a competitor of the PSP. It is SIMPLY a smaller, more portable, re-tuned, GBA.
For example: iPod made an iPod Mini that many people bought because it was smaller, and more lightweight (overall, more portable). Cell phone companies have large/heavy cell phones that work just fine, they have great features and options.. but they still make smaller cell phones. Obviously because the smaller size and lighter weight is more appealing.
There have been many other reviews out there for the GBM. The ones that I've seen are very positive. The people reviewing the GBM are actually HOLDING it and PLAYING with it. Unlike the people here that have already begun bashing it, simply because it is another line-up in the GBA family.
This handheld is really not that expensive. For $100, this thing is great. The reason why it is unattractive to buyers is b/c it is inbetween the SP and the DS. SP is cheaper than the GBM, and the DS can do more than the GBM.
The PSP is a totally different story! The PSP costs much more, so obviously it will perform at a higher graphic quality. The large screen and widescreen format is appealing, but it comes with a bulky-overall-handheld. --let's be honest now, how many of you guys would buy a PSP if Sony came out with a smaller version of it? I know I would.. I think the current PSP is too big.
I am Nintendo's target audience. I've already pre-ordered myself a Japanese GBM Famicom Edition at my local game importer. I want portability. I enjoy carrying things in my pockets. I'm a girl and incase you guys didn't know, jean pockets for women are very very small (I can't even fit my entire hands into my Tilt or A&F jeans).
Basically, if you didn't understand what I was trying to say.. is that the GBM was made to appeal those who want portability, not to compete with existing handhelds.

Pros: Super-compact, slick-lookin', great screen
Cons: might be too small for a big guy's hands
Summary: I never had a Gameboy SP- I've been wanting a PSP for a while, but the hardware and games are just too pricey for me, and to be honest, it seems like a big, expensive toy to carry around (not exactly "portable" in the truest sense). This was the perfect compromise- it's really small, love the games, etc. Clearly, if you already have a GB Advance or DS, you won't need one. Otherwise, give it a serious look. (Also, You can easily hide it at work, or when a cute girl walks by.)

The screen on this thing is great. And-it doesn't look like a toy. Expect it to sell in seriously buku amounts. -

Pros: small, brightest screen ever!, clear, it can go anywhere. It should come with a warning "not for small children, swallowing hazzard", it fits on your key chain! need I say more?
Cons: So small you could loose it easy!
Summary: It's the coolest thing to come out from nintendo since adding a backlight to the original advance. It's refreshing, remember when nintendo finaly went to a disc format? It's refreshing like that. An 11 but the score didnt go that high. Awesome

Pros: Small size. Headphone jack. Huge library of games.
Cons: Yet another GBA retread. Most likely too expensive for what it is.
Summary: I don't know what exactly was going through Nintendo's head when they approved this project. Had this been the successor to the original GBA, I would have been all for it. Now, years later and with the PSP nipping at their heels, Big N releases an advanced system with no titles and this mini version of a console many years out of date.
The GBmicro is a nifty idea if Nintendo sells it for about $25-30. Of course, they'll bring it out for $79-99. NO ONE wants to buy the same system three times and Nintendo must realize that everyone who wants a GBA has a GBA at this point. Besides, why spend more money on this thing when you can get an original GBA used for dirt cheap or a used GBA SP for half the price?? Like their strategy of making old classics downloadable for the Revolution, Big N seems rooted in the past and not paying near enough attention to their future. WAKE UP NINTENDO!!!Updated
Okay, now that it's out, I feel even more inclined to speak on its flaws. I'm all for miniturization. The concept of the GBM is phenomenal. The price for such old tech is not. Nor is a full 1 inch smaller screen for a system that has a large cache of RPGs and strategy games. Can anyone imagine playing Fire Emblem on this thing??
I would have bought one for $39.99. Hell, I would have been tempted at $49.99. But $99?? Come on. If you buy this gimick, you obviously have too much disposable income. If your one of the three people in the world that doesn't have some form of the GBA, have at it.
