Pros: Nice styling

    Cons: Horrible marketing

Summary: I have written Nintendo about availability issues. Their response was about how they wished they could be making more units available, blah blah. They hyped the market, undersupplied the product to create a demand and are now feeling sorry for themselves. What about all the kids on Christmas morning? What about the runaround of millions of parents. Nintendo screwed up, but instead of cutting into their profits to build more units they'll let people wait for months.

Very disappointed. Am now waiting for my AVAILABLE X-Box.

As expected I have hit a sensitive Nintendo Nerve. Gasp, the Emporer has no clothes. Reality, wise companies provide sufficient stock or if the demand is extreme dip into their extreme profits to make more than 5 per store per week so the public does not revolt (as I am). I would love to be able to tell you how the graphics quality is much lower than the other consoles. I'd love to be able to discuss the battery problems. What I can tell you is the paddles aren't breaking because of the wrist strap, it's breaking because of irate kids whose Christmas was ruined. The only one I have even seen was being returned because it didn't work (hmmm).

Okay this is getting humorous. Its over 2.5 months since the release and still not in the stores. Sounds like Nintendo is all marketing, cute fairies, and little substance.

While the kids play with their Wii, the adults play with their X!

What is wrong with you people?? How difficult is it to order online or just walk into a store and put your name down?? The reason there wasnt enough is Nintendo didnt realise they were gonna out sell the 360, and PS3 10-1. And if your worried about battery life, buy a Joytech power Station which will charge your precious Wiimotes!

Working at a major electronics chain store for a few years I've seen that this is the way the release of EVERY new game system goes. If you think about it for a moment, you can't expect one company to suddenly have a supply for everyone who wants one in every store of every city of the world (or even the little US of A). Furthermore, if there turns out to be a flaw in the system or lack of demand that company would end up in really bad shape.

I admit I do not have a Wii yet. I prefer to see if it works well and if others are happy with it before I buy. (Just like I am in no hurry to get IE7, Windows Vista, BlueRay or HD until they have time to work the bugs out.) If I buy the fastest computer today, I'm gonna have the slowest computer 2 years from now. I find that, although I often think there are things in that electronics store I need, if I go home without buying them my life is still ok.

I'm sorry to hear that the lives of you and your childern may have been ruined by not being able to get the newest gadget on the first day they said it would be available.

I think he's just bitter that he can't get one so he's throwing a temper tantrum. Every new system has a shortage. The PS2 wasn't available for several MONTHS after it first came out, same with X-box, PS3, etc, etc. He keeps referring to a X but seems pro PS3. Make up your mind, sides the point of the Wii is OLD SCHOOL.

My only recommendation for your unfortunate plight is that you return to PS3 forum and continue to post about how wonderful it is. Maybe you should post some of the issues revolving around the PS3? Just a thought.

It would appear that Nintendo did a very good job of marketing--hence the scarcity of available units. Good product + good marketing = low availibility.

ok the Wii is a great console. Just because its Extremely popular and hard to find does not mean it warrens a poor review. and BTW the Wii is being produced AS FAST AS POSSIBLE! Nintendo IS NOT! creating a shortage. check out any Wii news on the demand for the Wii. Its past x-mas and still people are raving about the Wii and every one wants one. So be patient, and call your stores every morning and you'll find one.
