Pros: 1) Excellent, high definition game quality, which will eventually surpass the capabilities of the 360/PS3 once developers take advantage of it.

    2) Really fun interaction between TV and GamePad in games, allowing for new console experiences.

Cons: 1) TV button doesn't allow adding an AV receiver, so input changing is useless.

    2) Triggers are not analog.

    3) GamePad screen's color temp is too warm/yellow.

    4) Original Wii mode has underscan and doesn't support surround when connected via HDMI.

Summary: The Wii U is a fantastic, very fun console all around that would greatly benefit from improved software support on Nintendo's part.

Con # 1 can be fixed via a software patch if we all demand it from Nintendo, and everyone with using a home theater receiver should!

Con # 2 onlys affect simulation level racing games.

Con # 3 can be corrected by setting your TVs color temperature to Warm, but a setting to tweak the GamePad color temperature would be appreciated.

Con # 4 can be circumvented by connecting the Wii style AV cables in addition to HDMI cable, and then switching your Wii U settings to 1080p component + stereo mode before launching the original Wii menu/games, then switching the settings back to HDMI/surround when exiting back to the Wii U. This prevents underscan and allows for proper Dolby Pro Logic decoding of Wii games.

A lot of people claim the Wii U has an overscan issue, but this is just not true. These folks just can't (or don't know how) to set their HDTV so it turns off all overscan, via its Just Scan or Full Pixel settings.

But even with these limitations, I've had such fantastic experiences with NintendoLand, New Super Mario U, and ZombiU, that I've hardly touched my PS3 and Xbox 360 since getting it.

The Wii U was released without some of its feature set available or ready from prime time, and will only improve as Nintendo fixes and expands on the feature set.
