"I love you Nintendo."
Pros: Download Play, Innovative controller, etc.
Cons: Lol I think that only time will reveal that point.
Summary: the following concerns only game geeks. the smart ones.
so like me you probably read everything there was to read about this year's E3. from wha i hear it was the worst ever. there was barely any games playable, no big suprise, and the 2 big console unveilings were all hoaxes. running on unfished hardware, showcasing pre-rendered animation of what they wish they'll pull out with the actual machines.
and then nintendo absolutely underwelmed the world by showing us only a work-in-progress version of the revolution. no controler, no game, no specs no NOTHING! we do get a gameboy small enough to swallow accidentaly tho.
so nobody talks about the revolution because theres nothing to talk about. speculations run wild about whats so revolutionairy about it, but no one knows. first it was that it might be somekind of hologram machine, or that it would display stereoscopic images. whoever said that must have been 12 years old and i hate them for making me imagine, even just for a moment that it might be real.
now theyre saying that its all about the controler. its gonna be gyroscopic, its just gonna be a big touch screen, its gonna plug right into your brain.
but something no one talk about is this:
for pretty much ever, all consoles had some sort of screening process for games. you cant just make a game and have it published on ps2. sony has to aprouve it first. and they reject tons of games for tons of reasons. making the concept of indie console gaming almost impossible.
also, if you add up all the hardware sony sez theyre gonna have in the ps3, it comes arund to something like 4000$. but then again. its 35 times more powerful than the ps1. they even say that its now 1% as powerful as the human brain.
and what does nintendo say? «the revolution is gonna be twice or even thrice the power of the gamecube»
gee...3 times better than the gamecube? how underwhelming. that should make it something like 33 times less powerful than the ps3? cmon!
but what i think the strategy here is, is that nintendo is gonna release theyre little machine at a price so ridiculously low that every mom in the world is gonna buy that one at x-mas instead of the 400$ ps2 or xbox 360. whats probably gonna happen too is that nintendo wont be selling theyre machine at a loss. i think that for every xbox sold, microsoft lost a 100$. something that probably wont happen with the rev (im callng it the rev from now on).
so thats good.
but what the real revolution will be about is this.
nintendo wont be screening games for quality. anybody in the world will be able to code for it and release theyre game one way or another. probably on the internet. this will make for tons of crap games, but it also means tons of great games based on simple but effective ideas. return to the source. gameplay before holywood-like production values. where EA will take 3 years to develop a 200-million$ game, some team of bedroom coders will be able to spend theyre free time on a good idea and have it playable on a home console anywhere in the world. and the bedroom-coded game is probably gonna be tons more fun than MADDEN UNDERGROUND 2008.
thats the revolution. theres less money to be made that way, but better games to be played. and thats what nintendo as always been about. GAMEPLAY.
this is an idea i beleive so much in. the current state of the industry is simply depressing to me right now. i dont want to beleive that ill be spending the rest of my life doing splinter cell sequels (ubisoft has 3 more sequels in the work as we speak right now).
what i want to beleive in is 3d artists and games designers everywhere getting tired of working on crap games for giant publishers. artists wanting to make something new, something original, something fun again. if the revolution does happen, theyre gonna be able to.
wow...what a messed up post this is. im sorry. i founf out about this last night and since then life is good again. nintendo is gonna save the universe from itself. i want this to happen so much. cheap machine, cheap hardware, cheap games, new ideas.
i love you nintendo.

I love your thinking but hate you for butchering the Queen's English. I'm an English Nazi.

The following concerns only unbiased people. So no Nintendo fanboys.
Download play (whatever you mean by that) exists for year already in a better implemented service: it's called Xbox Live Arcade. The innovative controller will suit like 25% of today's games, IMHO.
Etc., etc., etc... (I'm using your magnificent technique)
Cons? You don't need to wait to know that the Wii doesn't play DVD's or even CD's, you just have to look at the specifications. -
When did proper spelling and grammar become optional? I think my favorite part of this trickle was when you got mad at the 12 year old for "making you imagine" things. Yeah, that must have hurt. When you actually managed to bust out the word "thrice" (and use it correctly) I crapped all down my leg. Thanks a lot.
Before reading this, I was unimpressed by the Wii. Now I am unimpressed by the Wii, and your vision of gaming-utopia. I'm not dropping a bunch of money on a system to play home-brewed games cranked out by fanboys. Would you drive a car that your friends made out of toaster parts?
And for the record, its not "all about gaming" for Nintendo. Its all about profit. That's why this system is so cheap. They've repackaged current-gen standards, thrown in a "magic wand" and made you believe you're getting a bargain. They're laughing all the way to the bank. -
Well, that's great and all that we can get games from people besides the big companies, but...WHile you seem to think this will revolutionize gaming, you seem to forget the internet has been here long before the revolution. You keep alluding to the idea that this is the first time you can play someone else's homemade game at your house, but we've been able to play other people's games online for a long time. If there were going to be what you seem to think will be absolutely monumental games, then why aren't they already on the internet?

in my opinon now there is going to be a lot of confusion. like here an excample if some one had A nintendo Wii and they ask there freind "Do you want to play on my Wii." (pronounced we) and i can see some one saying "What?????". There going to be lot of confusion that all i can say but i'll live with is and i'll get it no mader what.
-
Some of your facts don't make any since at all. I mean I guess it's nice to hear your opnion but "PS3 is 1% as powerful as the human brain". That reminds me of Anchor Man; when the guys says "This works 60 percent of the time everytime". That's a good movie by the way.

In my opinion, I say wait a while till the reviews stack up and sales go up or down....if you are saving up every penny to buy the revolution.......... KEEP SAVIN but wait a while before getting it because it is not worth it to pay xxx for something like 1x worse than a ps2 (im guessing dont so kill me plz)the games wil probaly be Mario/Zelda/Metroid..... I would say to get the Xbox 360 or the PS3 because of their power and games, I am going to think about getting a small console (from my opinion a lanparty machine, still havent gotten to the LAN party time of my life). The REVOULTION is not such a revolution because of its low processing power.(RUMMOR STARTERS SAY IT WILL HAVE 10GH of CPU and 1GIG of V-Ram 512 MB of onboard RAM (YA RIGHT).. and so on) If this roumor is true.. Nintendo will live and if it is not well......they're screwed. SO IF THEY GET IT RIGHT THE HAVE A LONG BUISNES if NOT THEY GO BANKRUPT LIKE AN ENRON INVESTOR (The "enron Investor" is from Real Canadian Airfarce) BTW the big N should give out some dirt bout the Revolution no.
NOW SEND EVERY 1 A LINK TO THIS AND TELL EM TO SEE IF I AM RIGHT -

This review was great in many ways.
First of he gave us an opinion wich is the most concrete thing we can say about the revolution right now.
I jumped from Super NES to the Xbox, and I must say that Halo is great, Halo 2 better... ahhh but you know what, I havent picked up Halo since Halo 2 came out. you know why, because it sucks now, why because Halo 2 is better.
But you know something, Remember the Mario Franchise Nintendo has, I can play Mario 1 to 1,000 when they make it and still like each one for its own merrit.
Im going to be very brief right now and ask you a question...
Ever since the old nintendo games, what old game have you played once the next came out... following his idea, have you played Splinter Cell 1 after Chaos Theory came out?
I dont think so, but you would still love to play every single mario all over again. -
i've wanted to make games since i was little and as i gained skills in the market things got harder. chances of being an original thinker minimized.
i turned down an offer at AE games- what could of been a dream job when i was a child, but now they jut seem so unappealing to me. i want to make garage games or something new. -
You have one of the best Nintendo Revolution reviews available on this site. I can't wait for Revolution, as you said, PS3 and X-box are really expensive because they have a lot of features that don't have nyting to do with gameplay.. they want to sort of create a family entertainment console, not a gaming console. They're moving away from their idea, if you tell me.
