"Great for Gamers who just wanna play" on by stefonte

Pros: High Quality picture, low cost, great purchase/rental options. I don't experience the lag problem of the other rater and I have used wifi on my laptop and the top box

Cons: Lacks the social aspect of console gaming, so its not for those with consoles already. Geared more towards the lone wolf 30 somethings, or the guy who just wants to play games period.

Summary: This is a great product for those who just can't afford a $400+ console and just want to play games. Although there is a subscription price its still a great alternative to console gaming. There is a pay to play system that gives 3-7 day rentals or by it out right for less than the console disc. Also the demos are time limited so you can truly test a game out before you decide to buy it. If you are fortunate enough to have an xbox360 then you can use one of your current wired controllers when using a PC or laptop. The graphics are great, the games are the same as on the console and the library is growing; plus independent games. Just imagine saving your game on the box then moving over to your laptop when those you live with want to watch TV, just throw on a pair of headphones wake up the laptop and pick-up where you left off. Also, the box doesn't crowd your entertainment center space and if it just sits collecting dust you couldn't tell and you can stop your subscription. This box and service does not give you redundancy of having multiple systems and shelling out lots of cash, and since it is server based it can only get better over time, imagine TV services, movie streaming, and internet. (i'm starting the rumor).
If you just want to play games and not pay a fortune then this non-system is for you.

"Review of the Onlive Service." on by thedigitaldownlow

Pros: Price! Great prices to rent and buy games.

TONS of special deals are available online by following Onlive on Facebook or Twitter!!

Easy to use and setup. its simple.

Games. Great variety of games and some really big titles with more to come. from co

    Cons: None so far.

Summary: Ok, this is a review of the Onlive gaming service since I only use it on my laptop.

First off, Onlive is GREAT! Its low cost, easy to use, available 24/7 ( as long as you have an internet connection. wired for the home peripherals and wired or wireless for using on your laptop.)

the service is fairly new but i just got to using it for about a week now on my new machine and it has been an excellent alternative to console or pc gaming.

Simple to setup and begin playing.
Cheap prices and specials on games by getting codes thru Onlive's facebook and twitter.
(NOTE: I got Batman Arkham Asylum for $5, Mafia II for $3.25, and Hawx II for $4.00 within a weeks time. They run specials every weekend starting with $5 dollar Fridays with a select game for only $% bucks for 24 hours. the weekend will bring more codes for 30% to 70% off select games.)

Another great thing, NO subscription to use for buying, renting, or trying out games. (free trials on every single game too)
They do offer a 70 plus game play pack which costs $9.99 per month but that you can cancel at ANY time. the games in the play pack are great and you get TONS of great titles for super cheap. If you want more access to games, get this so you dont have to wait for more titles to be added to the games that arent part of the play pack. Ive got the play pack and its awesome. I'll be keeping it in service for awhile, for sure.

Now, the game library is pretty good to start and will get better. You'll find games like Batman, Mafia, NBA2k series, MLB 2K series, Borderlands, Red Faction Armageddon, Deus Ex, Fear 3, Homefront, duke Nukem, and alot more. They also have alot of PC games that i dont really play. Im an ex xbox 360 owner who had to sell to travel.

The service itself runs great over a good internet connection and thats just about all it depends on. they say you should use an ethernet cable to connect the home tv version of onlive but I run mine just fine to my laptop via a low cost router and standard internet service through AT&T. Believe it or not, I rarely experience any lag or serious graphical issues. Although sometime during peaks times during the days you can tell the system slows down some times. That probably just evident on my wireless connection so if your hard wired it, it should still run smoothly. Now remember, its nothing serious from what ive seen. Just certain glitches from time to time. Interference in the audio track, etc.

Overall the Onlive service is AWESOME and gives you so much bang for your tiny buck, i think i'll be a cloud gamer forever. Ive had both and Xbox 360 and PS3 and its just too expensive to keep gaming. Once you buy a game brand new in retail stores, you'll play it til you beat it or it gets old then you can sell it to gamestop or somewhere else for about 95% less of what you paid for it. Or you can keep it and it can collect dust. OR you can use Onlive on your PC, Laptop, or TV (by purchasing the hardware, which looks like an awesome deal also) and get a constant flow of game titles and access wherever you want to play, whenever you want. No need to spend $60 per game in stores when it will probably be in the cloud by the time I click submit on this review.

Get the service, buy the hardware, if you need, and get to gaming.

"Not too shabby" on by BlueWaterGirl1988

Pros: Instant play, 50+ games for $10, wide selection of older and newer games, can play on PC or TV.

Cons: Need a good Internet speed to use it.

Summary: My husband and I enjoy Onlive very much. I like the fact that it's only $10 a month for the Playback bundle, which they give you 58 games to play. If you do want to buy a game that isn't in the bundle, they're usually not too expensive unless it's a brand new game. You can also pre-order games too. Also, if you want to rent games, you can. Which is nice, no need to visit a video store anymore,

We don't have the console, but we are thinking about getting it and adding it to the rest of the consoles we own.

I would not recommend this to someone with a slow Internet speed or someone that only uses wifi. The service is a little touch and go when it comes to having a low speed.

Lastly, I love the fact that you can watch people from all over play their games live or they can watch you. You can also make clips of your favorite moments in games.

Just remember, they are still new and are still bringing games to their service, so give them sometime.

"One of a kind tech" on by bhoier

    Pros: Sleek design
    Simple setup
Easily portable (take on vacation, friend's house, etc.)
    Nice controller
Can often get it free with the purchase of a game

    Cons: Could use more games

Summary: Worth the money and great for those not wanting to sink thousands into a gaming PC. Also makes a great gift for tech challenged relatives and friends.
