Pros: Graphic capabilities; blu-ray discs; bluetooth controllers; everything else

Cons: Not much at this point and time

Summary: I have never been a big Sony fan to be honest. I purchased an Xbox and have be fairly satisfied with its performance, and when the new console lineup was announced I was sure that I would go Microsoft again, now all that has changed. After reading up on various websites to see the power, features and capabilities of all 3 new consoles, I realized Microsoft had dropped the ball on this one. The Sony PS3 is claiming that they will have the most realistic and amazing graphics ever seen, console or otherwise. Also, after watching the displays of demos at E3 it wasn't difficult to see that the PS3 had the upper hand in terms of visuals. The Xbox 360 will still be a great and powerful system no doubt but the visuals look only a notch above the already available graphics on the Xbox, hardly a revolution in terms of realistic, immersive worlds and characters. The PS3 also has the use of blu-ray technology which Microsoft doesn't have. These discs can hold much more data then a regular DVD making it easy for developers to put a whole lotta' game on these baby's. Also, the fact that Xbox 360 isn't likely going to be backwards compatible will hurt it immensely. I was looking forward to the Xbox 360 but to be honest it seems like their plan of releasing in time for holiday 2005 is a mistake. This rush to beat the other systems release dates could be its biggest problem. More time in development and planning could improve some of the already drastic letdowns that are expected. Hopefully the much hyped Sony PS3 will live up to its promises and specs once released that have already been seen on paper.

I like the fact that the PS3 has the WIFI and Blue ray in the box, but it is clear that as of October 2007, the early launch HELPED the XBOX360. I think the PS3 gives you the best bang for your buck, Microsoft tries to nickel and dime you to death. I mean 179.00 for a 120GB HDD???, 99.00 for the wireless adapter, just ridiculous that you have to buy MS proprietary peripherals at gouged prices. I do love Xbox live even though it cost me 40 bucks, I have not seen PS3's online experience.

    Insightful, pretty fair-minded.

You must be joking-you are probably a former xbox player who now likes ps3 and is trying to show your lack of bias. By doing this you have said something very foolish-the graphics are better on xbox 360 thats a fact, and to say Microsoft dropped the ball is utterly proposterous. Sony not only delayed their ps3, they also did not have enough units ready for christmas, they also put it at a ridiculous price (is ps3 worth $200 more than the xbox 360?) The fact remains that xbox 360 has won and is for me the best next-gen console out there-and thats coming from a staunch sony fan and ps2 owner. Sorry ryan_t_moreau but some of the things you are saying are an undeserved insult to a great next-gen vd console.

There is no question that the Play Sation 3 will crush the Xbox 360. The satistics speak for themselves. I cant beleive there are people who acctualy bough the 360. I have heard rumors that Bill Gates himself admitted that the capabilities of the Play Station 3 are far superior to the 360's. The 360 is not a next generation console at all. I tried it out and it sucked. I like my ps2 better. its sad to see such a large company like microsoft give this face up, but they did. Well looks like the PS3 takes this race and by far. The ps3 shows it will out perform and out power microsoft's weak and useless machine.

You must not read because Sony's graphics were fakes at E3 the company that made the Killzone videos said so i don't know how many time i have to say this but the cell isn't finnished so theirs no way of telling PS3's proformance + 360 is backward compatible IBM who is making ALL the chips for ALL 3 Systems said their is no real difference between the 3 so i would listen to sony and for Blu-Ray yea more space but no games will need that much space and 360 is a 12x Dual layer DVD-Rom PS3 will have a 3-6X Blu-Ray Rom, 360 also has more RAM and a more advanced video card Nvidia's RSX (PS3) already has a couple better so who has the best hardware. 360 (3 core) 3.2 Ghz PowerPC CPU or Sony's 3.2 Ghz Cell CPU

Those were all renders. From what i've seen from a game called Theseis the Xbox 360 has better graphics. According to IGN more of the 360's power can actually handle 'games' than the PS3's. Blu-ray disks are expensive so when multi-platform games come out it makes more sense to get it for other systems because it's cheaper. Oh and sony is evil

i will have to correct u on this one ryan_t_moreau, all they stuff that they showed at E3 was FAKE(not real game graphics), also sony always lies and will never stop, i am not a xbox fanboy, i have xbox ps2 the new ps2 and psp, sony even lied about psp, they said that the psp has 333 mhz but it is clocked at 220 mhz, also go to ign.com and see that xbox 360 will outperform ps3 with graphics!!

Ah, negatory big buddy. I gotta take issue with ya points thar. Blu-ray, shmu-ray. Who care if the PS3 game disks will be able to hold more data, it's gotta have the processor and graphics card power to pull it off and the specs clearly are in favor of the 360 in this department. You are also incorrect about backwards compatibility. MS has confirmed that 360 will be backwards compatible. They have already made public news about how seamlessly it plays Halo 2. Speaking of which, repeat after me H-A-L-O 3.

Online gameplay babay! Rule 1: NEVER bet against Microsoft long term. Xbox 1 was the foot in the door, 360 rips it open. Sorry all you Microsoft haters. MSFT will increase its marketshare by 50% with this machine.

I agree with you that PS3 easily kills Xbox 360 like PS2 killed Xbox.
But I think, PS3 don't need to kill Xbox 360, Xbox 360 are killing Itself with promotion gift.
You see, the must be something wrong with Xbox 360, so Bill Gate must pour Xbox 360 into the market.
