  • "Poor game library, extremely short battery life, and price takes its toll"

Pros: Good hardware, nice design, many capabilities, wireless multiplayer

Cons: Awful gaming library, horrendus battery life(3.5 hours!), faulty square button, not pocketable, extras like movies require more $$$, need memory stick, uses discs

Summary: The PSP does not look good. Good hardware and design, but horrendus titles and battery life. Say you want to take a plane trip. It won't last from the time you sit waiting to board and the whole flight if the plane trip takes 3 hours since the battery has been said to last 3.5 hours. The graphics are good, but the games are terrible(and at $50, bad price). It proves that good graphics doesn't make a good game. The movie player/music player capabilites sound good, but that is just more money to shell out for the memory stick($50 for 128 mb) and movies($20) to go along with it. The Nintendo DS, while it doesn't have amazing graphics, makes up for that with its fun and original first person gaming titles, innovative system capabilites like touch screen and microphone, and decent battery life, with a price that won't break the bank. If you want portable gaming, go with the DS.

it is not true to tell us that the battery life is short, i use mine nearly every day and i only charge it every 3'rd or 4'th day.

Saying that the battery life of a PSP is 3.5 hours is completely absurd. It depends on what you are playing on it. Low-graphical games such as Lumines lasts upto 6 hours. To get a 3.5 hour battery life you would need to be playing GTA:LCS.

i think it id good as a gaming device. But people tout is as an all in one amazing machine but really it half a**** everything but gaming. I had one for a while and returned it because the screen had like a ton of stuck pixels and what not. All in all i like the ds better because it has better games and doesnt cost you a ton for a bunch of half baked multimedia features.

No the battery life is rated around 6-8 hours! I have a PSP! OMG a DS???!! ***!? A DS can't be compared with a PSP cuz it's only meant for gaming, while the PSP is a gaming device, and audio device, and a Movie player not to mention a web browser! Your just freaking mad cuz u don't have enough money for it!

Your right, Iman1023, the sniveling ds fanboys have only one thing to complain about on the psp. The battery. Well, the ds sucks. So the nintendo fanboys should lay off the psp. My guess is that threeball is the captain of the nintendo fanboys. <img border="0" src="http://www.cnet.com/i/mb/emoticons/happy.gif" alt=":)">

I agree with you about the problem with the too short battery life. My final solution for this problem was to pick up a batterygeek 15+ hour per charge external PSP battery pack. So far so good...

All of you DS people are saying that the PSP has short battery life. So what if the DS has a touchscreen all of the DS games are the same they all have maps on the bottem screen and the game on top. You are just mad because you dont have enough money to buy one.
