"S = Short on power"
2.5 starson by maynoPros: Still looks cool and handles well...
Cons: Dated motor, lack of HP, lack of torque...
Summary: 162 ft. lbs of torque, 237 HP and peak power at 7800 RPM?! These are laughable statistics. The S stands for Short on performance and Short on power.

Did you know what you were buying? The engine is literally the most power per cc of any motor built WITHOUT power adders such as turbo, supercharger, etc. Granted, not a ton of torque, but when you learn to drive it, you will hardly notice.

I have no doubt mayno doesn't own an S2000. Perhaps he's an American muscle car guy who prefers just stepping on the gas, smoking the tires yelling "woo hoo" wearing a backwards baseball cap. The S2000 produces more HP per cubic inch than almost any other production car. It's nimble, smooth and the engine is assembled like a Swiss watch. Driving experience and enjoyment is relative to the person's preferences. But these comments and rating this car a "5" is what's laughable. The video reviewer on CNet said that of all the cars he has ever reviewed there are only two he didn't want to return and this is one of them. The only laughter it produces is from sheer driving fun.

Don't look at the specs, feel the power by driving this beast. The 'S' has more than adequate power and can smoke 98% of the vehicles on the road, especially on a twisty, curvy mountain road. I've got a red '05 that gets my adrenaline going each day!

Mayno, do you actually know anything about cars at all? You think peak power at 7800 rpm is laughable? The McLaren F1 develops peak power at 7400 rpm, the Ferrari F50 at 8500 rpm, and I'm not even going to get into Formula 1 cars. Peak power at high RPMS is a tribute of any real sports car. Peak power at lower RPMS is for grocery getters. The S2000 has one of the few naturally aspirated engines to develop over 100hp per litre, it's won International Engine of the Year in the 1.8 to 2.0L range five years in a row and has been universally praised by every major auto magazine for it's high output engine. The only laughable here is your obviously lack of knowledge about auto engines.
