"One Great Ride!"
on by SL HeavenPros Distronic Radar, Keyless Go, Bluetooth, Trunk-Auto open/close
Cons Ventilating seats are disappointing (not enough air movement)
Summary This car handles like a dream and with more HP than the SL500 has great pickup even at cruise w/o having to move up to the V12. I was dissapointed that Mecedes did not include an IPod interface but found a great aftermaket device that give you control of your IPod from the SL's Command Console. (NAV-TV.com)

"Slinky beast with flaws."
on by FIBBLEFESTERPros The quiet cabin with top up. The wind control with top down. The incredible v-8 and 7 speed tranmission combo. Comfortable and supportive seats. It corners like it was on rails.
Cons The Bose is not the best sounding unit around. The GPS gets confused. The transmission hiccups occasionally when slowing to a stop. The roof open warning sensor has been malfunctioning. It is artificially limited to 155MPH.
Summary We decided we were too old for a Nissan GTR and after driving this it felt just right. I owned a 68 280SL and this 550 seems like a wholly logical progression of automotive technology. Look for a used Leaswer, they are great deals but be sure to look for the amg and Sport packages, they are nice additions. The advanced seats are worth it but the ventilation is almost too weak to really feel cool. Still, overall this is a world class automobile, and it feels every bit of it.

"Dream Machine!"
on by lenfrankPros Spectacular touring car
Cons Big, big Benz for a 2-seater
Summary Interesting transition from a Porsche back to an SL. Powerful, but in-town gas-guzzler. On the road it's all that a Gran Turismo should be. Top down, Sirius playing, riding south down CA's Highway 1, it's all that one could ever ask for. Genuinely spectacular!
