  • "Porsche - The Super car you can drive every day!"
    on by tjp1963

    Pros Performance, Handling, looks

Cons I only have 6 months of the year i can drive it!

Summary People buy Porsches for many reasons, Performance, Handling, Looks, mystic, but certainly not their cabin tech. I have this exact car in a 2007 model, and quite frankly, I never even turn on the radio or look at the nav. In my opinion, who cares?! With the sweet sound of the Sport Exhaust system, why would you want to drown that out?! This is a beautiful, fun to drive car that you can use every day without the fussy nature of most exotics.

Porsche - there is no substitute!

  • "Practical supercar"
    on by H-MAN07

Pros Great handling, suspension, feedback, power, manual transmission and everyday practicality.

Cons The options are way too expensive.

Summary It's an easy to use car. You can drive it in traffic, rain, and snow without worry. It's easy to park and it has a trunk and rear seats that fit my kids booster seats. I'm 6'3" and i fit better than any other car I've owned. Best of all is the performance. It provides great driver feedback. The suspension is amazing on a track but doesn't abuse during commuting. Oh, it's really fast too.

There are some complaints about the Navigation and Bose listed here. I have both and find the nav to be easier to use than what is in my wife's Acura/Honda nav unit of the same model year. The Bose sounds great, the clarity and bass are impressive. Even at volumes I think are too loud it still sounds perfect.

Bottom line: A great car to drive everyday without compromising practicality or reliability but also provides supercar performance.

  • "Everything the 10 year old in you always wanted"
    on by winkingchef

Pros (1) That 911 look that will still hold when your own 10 year old is in the seat.
    (2) Earth-moving acceleration and that distinctive Porsche howl
    (3) Unbelievable cornering and stability, especially from a cabrio

Cons (1) Without the windblocker up, the interior is more windy than most cabrios >75mph
    (2) I wish the heat were stronger for al-fresco trips up to Tahoe
    (3) All the jealous whiners driving 318ti's missing the point and complaining about sat-nav (!)

Summary Porsche ran an ad in 2005 that featured a 10 year old falling in love with the 911. Check it out on Youtube. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g5Iu7Gk6Igg)

    That kid was me.

After 22 years of saving my pennies (and a little luck with stock options), I just bought a pre-owned 911 C4S Cabrio (997 body) in Slate Grey Metallic and let me tell you, it is everything I ever imagined it would be and more. After 22 years, my expectations were pretty high.

I just spent the weekend hurtling down Hwy 1 which is perched on the face of the cliffs above the Pacific. 200 feet above the crashing waves, I never for a moment felt the slightest tinge of worry as I tore down the road early in the morning on my way to the beach.

The car drives like a dream. Double-clutch downshifts are amazingly intuitive and the car is instantly responsive to my every command. Steering is taut and instantaneous and the body follows obediently with no roll.

Also, on those rare occasions when I put the top up, I am always surprised at how quiet it is.

Complaints about sat-nav...is that guy for real? Has he even used the BMW iDrive?

  • "Furiously fast and very able"
    on by carter59nick

Pros It well finsihed, comfortable, acclerates and handles like a demon. It's a car you can use everyday in the city, unless you are trying to hide from your wife. Design is superb... understated and cool.

Cons The fact that I don't own ten of them.

Summary Parking is easy, handling is smooth, front spoiler can be a bit low at times

  • "C|NET takes a bribe from Porsche"
    on by ducati748

    Pros the Porsche name

    Cons Bose; electronics;

Summary How can a Bose audio system be an upgrade? Bose is horrible: B-uy O-ther S-ound E-quipment.

Subpar electronics and CNET gives it an excellent rating? Looks like Porsche gave enough advertisement dollars to CNET to warrant this biased review (I see THREE porsche ads in the advertisement box above as I type this review; this is no coincidence.)
