"Doesn't last!"on by franzenk
Pros When it works, it works well.
Cons Plug breaks after repeated use of taking out and putting in. After awhile fans shut off and you have to move the plug around to make it work. Doesn't cool the laptop as well when it doesn't work to full capacity.
Summary I should have know this would happen to me, I bought another Targus mat before this and had problems with the cord after only a few months. I move my computer from home to school and take the mat with me. I have to unplug the usb cord and back in to use it. After repeated plugging and unplugging, the mat stops working or when it does work, will go off and on. After awhile I have to jerry-rig the cord to make it work. I have wasted too much money on both of these poorly made items. Never again!
"Stay AWAY!!!!"on by bigyellow01
Pros It was light, had 2 fans. that's it
Cons Broken blades, fan motors, power jack.
Summary I had two before I went to another brand. The first one had pieces of the fan blades breaking off when it would start up, so after a month I took it back to Best Buy for a replacement. The second one lasted about three months before the fans started freezing up and starting over and over again. Then the power outlet jack in the back of the fan started coming loose until the pin broke off, now I can't even plug it in. The pin is stuck in the cord going to the USB. Just one more expensive thing to take to the shooting range. Poor quality if you ask me, do your research and get something that is going to LAST!!!
"Too noisy and loud"on by straca
Pros 2 fans, inexpensive
Cons Noisy & loud, no USB power supply, only 3 degree temp reduction
Summary I used it for several days only before I returned it, since the mat was getting noisier by the day. During the use the mat lowered the temperature to 44C from 46-47C (standard, no heavy use temperature). It accomplished that in less than 10 minutes and kept it there. Not bad, but expected more (about 4-7 degrees).
I can?t recommend the mat simply because how noisy it is. I am still looking for a good cooler that would get better than 8% temperature reduction while being relatively quiet.
"Does the job"on by diesel503
Pros Two cooling fans. Pretty quiet. Cool air covers 17"
Cons Plastic and sometimes hard to fit without some work.
Summary I owned a one fan cooling fan. I have a 17" screen so I decided I wasn't getting enough air. I am now happy with the system I have. No plugging into walls just a small plug that goes into a usb port and powers down when machine is off. For the price I would reccomend it.One of the fans on this cooling system stopped working all together soon after my review of it. I just junked it even though it would be better than nothing but these fans are not to spendy so I decided to get another one and it still works perfect after half a year or so.
