"Handy, light-weight, and the battery life is good, but, the headset speaker is subpar."
Pros: Reasonable battery life, fits in pocket, good wireless range, comfortable headset
Cons: Sub-par headset audo, no downloadable user manual from GE
Summary: My wife and I have owned this phone for about 2 years and like it more than dislike it.
It was rather inexpensive when purchased, (in the neighborhood of $29.95 relative to other cordless phones), and is very handy to carry around or put into your pocket. My wife and I needed a cheap cordless solution for around the house and this phone seemed ideal.
The range of the cordless handset was sufficient enough to work fine inside a 1400 SF ranch-style house plus outside in a half acre yard. The battery also lasted 2-3 days before needing a recharge, which we liked.
Some features that need improving include the volume and clarity of the headset. This phone only has volume settings at 1,2,3, or 4, and at 4, the voice on the other line sounds a bit like the school teacher from the animated 'Peanuts' TV specials, ("Wah wah wah wah?"), or like you're talking to your friend in the navy who is currently on a submarine, 800 feet under water. I find myself asking the other party to repeat themselves often so I can comprehend what's being said.
Another negative is the belt clip; I can't figure out how to use it and so don't, but wish I could. Instead I stick it in my pocket or set it down when I need 2 hands free.
A final item: the user manual. I've since lost mine and tried to find an online version on GEs website, but could not. Now I must waste time figuring out how to program phone numbers into memory; don't laugh, it's not very intuitive, or I wouldn't be writing this editorial.
In summary, the compact size, low cost, and general handiness around the house are definite plusses. The main negative, the most crucial, is audio clarity. Because of this crucial point, I would not purchase this phone again.
