"Excellent vehicle ahead of the competition"

by pmishler on July 17, 2009

Pros: Excellent mileage. Small turning radius. No repairs in 5 years. Back seat comfortably seats 3 people. Hatchback wide enough to carry stuffed chair. ABS works efficiently.

Cons: Dash rattle. Small gas tank. No side protection against dings from other vehicles. Dealer can't tell details of how various elements of hybrid system work. Cruise Control set at 65 going over rises speeds to 66 then slows to 64 before resuming.

Summary: After 5 years of driving, I have been pleasantly surprised at long trip mileage and disappointed at short trip mileage. On 3 trips of more than 2000 miles each, I got 52-53 mpg. On short trips of 1-4 miles, I get 35-36 mpg, not the in-town mileage quoted by EPA. My overall experience is positive. The cons mentioned above are only minor annoyances.
