"Mediocre at best"
Pros: handling, power, efficiency
Cons: ugly exterior, tiny interior
Summary: It's definitely a step up in power and handling over its predecessor but in an alarming trend for current cars, don't expect to fit comfortably in the driver's seat if you are over 5'10". I don't care for most of the German cars like BMWs, etc. but at least I can get the seats into a comfortable position and not have my field of vision limited by poor design choices. It's sad to be forced to purchase a larger, more expensive (and less efficient) car simply to get a car that I can safely and comfortably drive.

sheesh. i'm 6'0" and it felt good. did you tilt the seat back and then straighten it? the seat adjustments are pretty wide ranging.
giving a car a bad rating (a 3? thats ridiculous!) because you were either too tall or more likely, couldnt figure out the seat adjustments was pretty lame. most 6'2" folks would have fit fine. -
First of all, I wish people that write these reviews, actually owned what they are reviewing. A 3 out of 10 is unwarranted for such a fine car and mainly based on the driver's seat. I am 5'10" and I fit perfectly with room to spare. Perhaps your body is distorted, much like your brain. No one in his/her right mind would give the Civic Si such a low rating. The Civic Si is a blast to drive. It's decently fast, handles great and gets impressive mileage for a sporty car. The stereo is just awesome, as well. And then it's a Honda. When it comes to quality and reliability, it is second to none. Check Consumer Reports. The most reliable cars are made by either Honda or Toyota, by far. Also don't forget that all the Civics got the highest crash test rating. A good reviewer should take all these things into consideration, performance, comfort, ride, quality, reliability, safety, economy, price, etc. and weigh them accordingly. When I weigh all these factors in, the Civic Si gets my nod. And yes I do own one! If I were to rate it, I would give it a 9 out of 10.

Why would you rate this car a 3 out of 10 if you don't fit in it? I am 6'0" tall 195lbs and fit fine. How much is your weight? Very unfair rating. This car deserves a lot more. Very fast, very good handling and the price is right! Can you match the price, power and handling of this car with any other? No.

just test drive it

I've owned a Civic EX for 6 years now and have found it to be one of the best "small cars" for taller people. A friend of mine is 6'6" and he also drives a Civic with no problem. So if you are tall, don't be scared off. Go test drive a Civic and see what you think yourself.

IMO, this is a terrible review..
1. remember, this is a CIVIC, not a BMW, Audi, or Acura.. so don't compare the interior to a BMW or Mercedez; compared to a car in its class (ie Scion TC, VW GTI, etc) its one of the cleanest and most modern. not many sub 25K cars even offer navi.
2. do you know how to use the seat adjustment and telescoping steering wheel options? i bet that might help w/fitting in it.. i have a few pals who are 6'2 or so and they do not have probs w/fitting.
you can't beat this car's value, lets see for under 23K you get:
-Navi (optional but keeps it under 23K)
-LSD
-Safety (side, front airbags, abs brakes)
-Looks/Styling
-Honda reliability (yea, it may not be as powerful as a Neon SRT4 but it will last prob twice as long if not more)
just my .02 and opinion as a VERY proud 06 Si owner... -
I'm a bodybuilder with a 52.5" chest and I fit into the 2006 Civic Si!! Boy, this guy must work for a competitor or something. Then he goes on to compare the interior to a Mercedes!?! This is a $20K car not a $60K Mercedes. Amazingly bad review.

At a certain optimum seating position my head--5ft.11in.--does make contact with the top. And there is a certain front/rear engineering design disconnect that would ask the question as to why anyone would want to look around or over the sheer visual obstruction of that back spoiler when there is so much good unobstructed vision in the front. The rear stereo speakers also obstruct.
At night during certain driving conditions IMHO there is a marked optical angular visual distortion that reminds me a shooting fish in a barrel quality of perception for estimating stopping and turning distances which I am not used to for a driving experience.
Another pet gripe of mine involves not liking the sun and headlight glare from that back spoiler during the most hazardous times for automobile accidents--mornings and evenings.
Not to be completely negative this is mostly a good car but not outstanding. The electric steering takes some getting use to. I may remove the spoiler and rear speakers and install a new inside the window brake light. -
I recently had the chance to get some time behind the wheel of an Si, and there was plenty of room in the cabin for me to get comfortable. Are you one of those people that sits bolt upright with the seat all the way forward? Infact the cabin was very well designed in my opinion. As far as you disliking the exterior, that's quite personal. Many people think it is the best looking Civic ever.
You sound quite bitter, degrading the car just because you somehow can't shoehorn your average frame in and don't like the exterior is hardly grounds for giving it a 3. Oh well, such are public reviews... -
ur such a noob.

i was thing about getting a acura rsx type-s, but for 4k less and more gadgets you can't go wrong if your looking for a sports coupe.

I have to concur with my fellow posters who disagree with you comments. I drive an Si for 2 hours daily, that looks just like the one mentioned in CNet's review and find the driver's area to be adequate for my 6' frame.
I do not understand how you came to your conclusions. -
Your comment about the Si is so off the mark, I can't put it in words. I have the Si and it's one of the best combination of driving dynamics, design, and efficiency I have seen in a long time. And I compared this to BMW, Audi, and Mercedes. I'm 6', and I fit nicely. Honda did a great job on this vehicle, and you're just not seeing this car in the proper light.

You must be one of those people who complain about everything poccible. At 6'1" I have no problem as either a passanger or a driver as my friend has one in Tafetta White. Overall the quality/performance/fit and finish/reliability of this car make it truly special. And with 18s wrapped in Potenzas with Nav for 22K you will not find any better deal on the market. Period.

The Civic is a compact car. It wasn't mean to be the most roomy vehicle on the market. If you're a really tall person, yet still want to buy a compact car, then you should know that you're going to have to sacrifice some of the head room you would have with larger cars.
