C4S Coupe a Terrific Sports Car!!!
Pros: Fantastic gearbox, razor sharp handling, outstanding acceleration, decent mileage given level of performance, great fit and finish
Cons: Stiff suspension results in interior vibration on less than perfect pavement (not a big deal given level of performance)
Review:
I have had my 2006 Porsche Carrera 4S coupe for approximately three weeks and all I can say is WOW!!! The C4S delivers a tremendous amount of performance for the money when compared to exotics that offer similar levels of performance.
The break-in period limits you to RPM's of 4200 or less for the first 2000 miles, however, it is evident that the engine is really starting to come into its own at that level and beyond. Acceleration is tremendous and will only get better when the upper end of the tach can be explored. The handling is extremely sharp and is even better than the standard C2S due to the additional weight up front (in my opinion). The 6-speed manual is absolutely fantastic and is one of the smoothest gearboxes that I've ever used and the ratios are perfectly spaced.
The interior of the 997 model line is vastly superior to that of the 996 and earlier models. The fit and finish are more befitting of a car of this caliber than in years past. The driver information screen (NAV, CD, Settings, etc.) is easy to use and very high quality. The optional Bose sound system is fantastic and sounds much better than the base system.
I would recommend that anybody that is in the market for this type of performance vehicle look seriously at the 997 C4S. The car is one of the best performing cars on the market, yet it is much more livable as a daily driver than other cars with this level of performance.
