"Get the DSG and forget the other options. It's more fun than a barrell of monkeys."
Pros: The DSG. Get it and go driving at 3 a.m. for no reason. Great quality for the price. Plenty of features without expensive option packages.
Cons: Standard sound system lacks refinement.
Summary: Many people complain about the price of the GTI, but if you get the DSG transmission as the only option there are plenty of other standard features for the price. Just test drive one and read the owners manual. After a week of ownership I'm still discovering all the standard features VW has loaded into this vehicle. I'm sorry Civic fans but the Civic isn't nearly as refined as the GTI. My only complaint is the sound quality of the standard stereo. Then again, my favorite activity is to shut off the music and listen to that great drivetrain and exhaust during enthusiastic driving. (While obeying the speed limits...of course!!) And forget the slow GPS system, men don't need directions anyway. (Do we?) If you're looking for a practical sporty car (especially in 4 door form like mine) get it !! You won't regret it!!
