Pros: Versatility - No other car better combines an every day commuting vehicle with an ultimate racing machine
Tech & Design - Engine:wow, suspension: sporty heaven, cabin tech: halleluja, design: just beautiful. The M3 is a piece of car engineering art!
Cons: None - I'm driving the 2009 model with new hard disk based nav and new iDrive. There is a new and big in-dash high resolution screen and every iDrive command is executed without any lag.
Summary: After three Porsche 911 Carreras I went for the M3. After 10'000 miles there is no doubt I made the right decision. The engine with is fast rev characteristics is just out of this world. And did I mention it's sound...?! The dynamic suspension system is a dream on the road and particularly on the track. But it doesn's stop there. The cabin experience is complete (I opted for the enhanced premium sound system which is great) and lets you travel in sporty comfort with enough room for two and their golf bags. One comment on the new dual clutch gearbox: I tested it and decided against it. It certainly works perfectly well and allows for comfortable gear changes which can hardly be noticed. but I just wasn't able to say which gear I was in when I was driving it in manual mode. So I always had to either guess or check the in-dash gear indicator which is something you shouldn't be doing when drivin along a curvy road. Besides that I had some issues with "finding" the shifter paddles on the stearing wheel when trying to shift while driving through a turn. Using a new shiftig method obviously is a matter of practice and personal preference. I just figured it is my preference to shift manually.
