"Don't Listen to CNET; This is a GREAT Car!"4.5 stars
Pros: great gas mileage, small size, huge interior, awesome ability to configure seats, price, maintenance free
Cons: Very, very few
Summary: CNET should really not review cars. This is an awesome car. I live in DC and was looking for something a little roomier (and more reliable) than my Volkswagen Beetle. I looked at the Toyota Matrix, Scion, and Fit. The Fit won hands down. First, the versatility of the seats is amazing. I have already used all possible configurations and it is just great. I often keep the rear seats folded up to haul around groceries, bikes, or my two dogs. It is so nice to have a small car with four doors too. My large friends fit nicely in the car; my tall, big friend was in the passenger seat this evening and he had no trouble sitting comfortably.
I have a manual and this car is very easy to drive and maneuver through the city. On the highway, this car drives incredibly smooth and quiet; for a small car it feels quite sturdy. I have yet to take it on a really long trip, but around town I'm getting close to 40 mpg on the highway.
You can't beat Honda for building a reliable car. How this car holds up over the next few years will be the true test, but out of the showroom everything has worked flawlessly (as a former Volkswagen owner, this is something I'm still getting used to). I love the feature that tells me when to get the oil changed, and I really love the fact that the car requires virtually no maintenance (other than oil changes and tire rotation) until 100k miles. I went ahead and purchased the 70k warranty, mainly because city driving is very hard on cars. However, I doubt I will need it.
I would recommend getting the Sport, as the cruise control is a nice feature to have on longer hauls.
Very few negatives that I can think of - the only thing I would have liked is a gas tank that locks. Being in DC, I get worried that someone would tamper with the gas tank.
Overall, this is a great little car. For what you pay, you get a high-quality, reliable car that will last for years and not hurt your wallet in terms of gas.
