Average stock tiresSummary: the impreza is a great way to get AWD safety and performance at reasonably high fuel efficiency. It's a very nice car to drive, with enough power to get me on and off the highway and pass at will.
I have seen it noted as a negative by others, but I love how unstylized the interior is. When car shopping I was completely turned off by the lines inside the Focus and Elantra. Their cockpits look more like a design experiment rather than anywhere you would want to spend your time. And the Civic was just as bad with it's dual level instrument cluster. For the interior, I want a minimum of fuss with well laid out controls and enough storage. The Impreza is great in this regard. All controls are well within reach and provide reassuring feedback. This coupled with great responsiveness, good gas mileage, and exemplary safety made the Impreza an easy choice for me.

Thank-you! Could not agree more with your take on the focus and elantra...and add mazda to that list, there interiors are horrendous! Like something out of a battlestar galactica episode or some such nonsense. So ugly and unsophisticated. Blech! If subaru is boring, i'll take boring any day of the week!
