"A compact car with great MPG & good bang for the buck."
4.0 starson by rjdriversPros: High MPG.
Seat comfort is good for a small car.
At trim level 3 and above an electronic lover's playground.
Voice commands for audio/nav system.
USB plug for iPod, smartphone, or even just a thumb drive full of MP3s.
Turning circle with 15" wheels.Cons: Seats lack lumbar adjustment.
Visors need extenders.
Audio/nav display panel hard to read in direct sun.
No voice command to switch to USB mode.
Could use a rear anti sway bar.
Large bumps are not well absorbed by the suspension.Summary: Have had my black C3 with alloy wheels for about three weeks. I am really loving the voice command system. Never got into iPods, so I converted a couple of dozen CDs to MP3, loaded them on a thumb drive, and leave that plugged into the USB port. "Play Bonnie Raitt Luck of the Draw", and two seconds after a pleasant female voice confirms my choice, it start to play the album. No more fumbling with CDs, although that's there if I need it. And when I need to get some news, "Tune to 96.9", and it changes to that radio station.
On third tank of gas, and I am averaging 53 MPGs overall. There were over 300 miles on the car when it was delivered so I don't know how it was driven during that time, but the first two tanks I drove, I averaged 55. I have an 80 mile RT commute everyday. It's about half highway at 65-70mph and half rural roads at 40-45mph. Only 8-10 miles of it are at speeds under 40. I managed 60.3 mpg one day when I played the ECO game on the drive to work. But driving the way I always have (radar detector is still on the dashboard) 54-55mpg is easy.
The car rides like a compact. Handles most road variations with ease, but the large bumps/potholes can be pretty jarring. High Crosswinds are noticeable. Wind noise is not objectionable until you get well over 75mph.
Overall, I am very pleased with the car. I came from a 2003 Honda Accord with 207,000 miles on it. The C doesn't ride any worse than that car did for the last 50m miles on it's original struts, etc. I am a little leery of having much of the car's functions under electronic control, but I guess that is the way of the future. I assume all the circuits are well protected from water, and I hope if it all freezes up on me, I can fix it with a reboot :-)
