"Nowhere Near 50 MPG"
2.5 starson by soundbonzPros: Still gets better gas mileage than the average car, but nowhere near the advertised 50 mpg.
Cons: Still gets better gas mileage than the average car, but nowhere near the advertised 50 mpg.
Road noise is louder than expected.Summary: I bought my first Prius three weeks ago. A 2012 model III Prius with Navigation. Living in Los Angeles I have yet to get more than 41 mpg on any given trip. A tank of gas gives me about 380 miles. My average mpg is around 35 mpg.
addendum - I just tried the editor's challenge and went out for some errands using the power mode. When I got back home, the readout claimed I got 19.5 mpg.
I'm babying this car while driving trying to get the advertised mileage. Not happening. Sure. There are stretches of road where the display is showing over 50 mpg. Other times it shows under 20. And when I arrive at my destination and power down, the screen reads 35 or 36 mpg for the trip.
Very disappointed so far.

Maybe people can actually get 50 mpg with a 2012 Prius by driving on freeways for miles on end, but hopping around a town like LA, there is no way you will get anywhere close to that.
I'm actually starting to feel quite dissatisfied with this purchase.
Lower my rating to two stars.

Are you sure you drive a Prius? You seriously need to bring it back especially if its a new vehicle. There is something not right with your car!

19.5 miles per gallon? Take the car to a dealer and have it repaired. Over 1,100 people have tracked the mileage of their Prius cars on the website Fuelly.com, and not one of them reports average mileage below 30.
Your car needs repair.
