"The 2012 Toyota Prius is NET DUMB!"3.0 starson by CarefreeGG
Pros: As an automobile, the 2012 Prius Model 5 is absolutely stunning. It is no slouch getting away from the traffic. Ride and handling are great. The interior design is Starship terrific. The leather seating and legroom are surprisingly generous.
Cons: The "Display audio w/Navi, Entune & JBL" doesn't work: 1) unless it has access to a smartphone connection, or 2) if the car is in motion. You can try using the voice inputs, but that takes more concentration than a simple poke on the touch screen.
Summary: The "Toyota Entune" system supposedly gives you lots of NET connectivity ("Entune™ is a collection of popular mobile applications and data services integrated with select Toyota vehicles. To use Entune™, all you need is a compatible smartphone or feature phone, a data plan from your mobile carrier, and a Toyota vehicle equipped with an Entune™ -enabled multimedia system.") Read that statement carefully, as Entune needs your smartphone and airtime to be of any use at all. Also, the Navigation system touch screen is disabled when the car is in motion! Try pulling to a stop on the shoulder of a busy freeway so you can define your intended destination! Not SMART, Toyota.
There are aftermarket solutions available for $70 to $300, but all require that you pull your dash apart and remove the electronics unit. Toyota needs to provide an electronic solution at no cost to the new car owner.
