"Terrible review"on by trans100
Pros One of the best retro muscle cars ever built. THe upgraded technologies are incredible.
Cons The purchase price should be higher based on what you get.
Summary One of the best American muscle cars ever conceived since 1970.
Pros 392 Hemi and great styling make for a beautiful muscle car
Cons Not a great daily driver (especially within a city) and not quick enough to compete well with other muscle cars
Summary If you are looking for a head-turning modern take on classic American muscle, the Challenger SRT8 is probably the best car to do it in. While performance may be lacking when compared to the Mustangs, Camaros, Corvettes, etc. the Challenger is still quicker than the average car on the street and better looking too. This was not meant to be the daily driver of Mr. Beige working in cubicle 112 either, it is a mean machine that requires work to make it go. One may ask then, why buy it? The stereo is only average, the car is big and heavy, performance numbers don't match the price, why would one want a Challenger? Two reasons, and for a true fan of cars, they are the only two needed. It's a HEMI and it's MOPAR Muscle. The potential buyers of the Challenger SRT8 aren't interested in fuel saving technology, new electronic functions, or noise isolation; no they care about a big engine, a manual transmission, and driving a stunning car. If you are looking for a car easy to drive around the city or one that will give you the best lap time no matter what, look away from Dodge in general; however, those that just want a fun car reminiscent of the golden age of automobiles with the touches of modern technologies, the Challenger just might be the answer.
Pros V8 sound track, tons of acceleration and great styling. Much more livable than it's competitors, the Camaro & Mustang.
Cons MPG 13-16 in real world mixed driving.
Summary If you love muscle cars from the 60's & 70's, but don't want the issues that come with an old car, this is for you. It has the looks, the muscle and the sounds that will have you dreaming of the 60's. The tech, while not the latest Dodge offers, is excellent. Bluetooth streaming works great so that any app on your phone is seamlessly connected to your car. Nav is ok.. the Harmon Kardon 900 watt stereo sounds good, perhaps a little too bassy, but it's the best car stereo I have ever owned. I have two little girls who really love Daddy's "fast" car. A big trunk and usable rear seat makes this possible.
All in all, the Dodge Challenger SRT is a great car and I am happy to own one.
