Pros Probably all the features you can find in a high end CRT monitor, but that doesn't help when it doesn't delivery quality text/picture.
Cons I always had good impression on Samsung products and owned three different models from early day 14" to 15" flat screen to 17" flat screen. They were all good/near excellent. But everything has changed after my sister gave this 19" 955DF to me when she
Pros Inexpensive for the size
Cons Screen went out of focus within a year after purchase
Summary The screen is out of focuse to the point of being unreadable. There is no manual focus or sharpness adjustment. Part of my decision to purchase this monitor was the positive rating recieved from CNET. Purchasing a Samsung monitor is a gamble that I will not make again no matter how highly it's rated.
Pros The picture isnt curvy and is very flat and it is very sharp on text. The quality of plastics seems to be durable. I bought this used in June 2007 for $10 from Goodwill but it was already 5 years old and probably had some heavy use and still good.
Cons Refresh rates. The refresh I get at 1600x1200 is only 60hz. I can only get 75hz at 1400x1050, it would be nice if it was the 1600 res as well. If you want 85HZ or higher its up to 1024x768, pretty disappointing on a monitor this size.
Summary I wish that this monitor would have better res up to 1900x1200 and at least 75Hz at 1600x1200. I give 5 stars because of how reliable this monitor has remained despite its age, even if it has some slight shortcomings. Of course the market for CRTs is so yesterday since probably more than half of computer users out there use the more modern Flat Panel LCDs right now no matter what. This is one of 2 CRTs I still use but LCD is on one of my machines. Still, this is one great Samsung Product. I will buy more Samsung flat-panel monitors in the future...
Pros Has lasted a long time.
Still in focus after all these years.
Slow refresh rate at top resolution.
Anti-glare coating gets wonky after a few years.
Summary I've been using this monitor for quite awhile now. It started out great, but is now dying horribly. Over the years the anti-glare coating has either darkened or the monitor's brightness has significantly lessened as everything is much darker than it should be making videos and dark areas of games look horrible and difficult to see. It also now emits an extremely high pitched hum when in low resolutions and/ or low refresh rates. I suspect that the power transformer is wearing out, but this could probably be expected from any monitor nearing 10 years of heavy use. All in all this monitor has been a decent investment and has exceeded my expectations as far as life-span goes. I am now retiring it in favor of an LG W2361V-PF 23" LCD monitor. Let's hope this new one lasts almost as long as the old one did. :)
Pros Price and features
Cons size, blurry text
Summary I got this monitor with my Dell Dimension desktop and have had it for 2 years now. Have had no problems except the text has been getting progressively worse as time goes on! It is fuzzy on text all across screen but especially bad in the corners of screen.
