"excellent colors, terrible drawback" on
Summary: the "minor" focus issues are certainly Major issues if you're a web developer. every other centimeter of the screen is blurred. regardless of adjusting the convergence and moire, you can't even slightly rid of the problem. if it wasn't for this issue, this would be one of the absolute best 17" monitors (if not the best) out there. the color quality and small grill are very, very nice.. but the blurriness... oh well.

"Focus problems toward the screen center" on
Summary: This is definitely a monitor for reading. The image is colorful, but there is a big difference in focus from screen edges to the centre. On the sides, the text is sharp and easy to read. When your eyes move toward the center text becomes blurry and your eyes have a tendency to re-focus. I have seen this on three monitors of this type, two bought by me and returned immediately and one later in a store. Recommended for games or DVD only, but in this case is too expensive ($500CAD tax included). Owned a CTX PR711F for four years and was very happy, they I said to move up with Sony 240. Bad idea. I am going to test a Viewsonic 19" p95f+.

Summary: Overall, I could not be more pleased with this monitor. It has a fantastic image, and the damper wires that several people have complained about are rarely noticeable. I bought from Buy.com, and it arrived via UPS ground within two days. I would recommend this monitor to anyone.

"Will not buy Sony monitors again." on
Summary: My first Sony monitor lost its (red) color within about a year after purchasing it. My second on the E240 had defects with the screen after using for 2 months. An area around 3 o'clock shimmies back and forth. Eventhough the warantee is for 3 years, Sony requires me to pay for shipping me defected unit back ($55!!!). The replacement was worse, Sony replaced mine with a refurbished monitor back with 90 days warantee (instead of the 2+ years I have remaining). The refurbished on has the same problem! $&^% Sony.
