  • "Best "Jack-of-all-trades" product there is!"
    on

Summary Though the V7 upgrade is not much more than improved import/export filters, PM still remians the best overall product for producing a variety of professional looking documents. If you're in any kind of business you will want to stay away from MS Publisher. It simply doesn't give clean, professional results. PageMaker is easy to use (read the manual!), powerful, and delivers professional results. For the few small advantges that Quark has over PageMaker (features which I haven't had a need to use anyway, and I'm a professional designer), it has twice as many things that are a real pain. Even for advanced users, there is not much that Pagemaker can't do. I work with PageMaker, Quark, InDesign, and Publisher and I can work twice as fast in PageMaker than any of the others. Though the prices is 4 times that of Publisher, you professiona image is worth it, and I have often seen competitive upgrades that can save you big bucks if you already own a version of Publisher.

  • "I think this program is very efficient."
    on

Summary This is a very complicated program but it deffinately gets the job done. I have used this for yearbook pages and I feel that our pages are professional quality. This is a great program!

  • "Very useful document creation tool."
    on

Summary I wonder if some of the negative commenters have actually used this product. My company has been able to produce high quality, 4-color sales documents using Pagemaker/Acrobat/Xerox 8200. This combination replaced thousands of dollars in printing costs. PM's main strength is it's focus on productivity. After going through Adobe training books, I can create a new sales document in less than two hours.

  • "Don't Try to do too much"
    on

Summary If you have used any other Desktop Publishing Software (Publisher, Quark) there's no way you can be satisfied with PageMaker. PageMaker has an extremely limited set of tools and is helpful for doing little more than laying out text boxes and an occasional graphic. Tables? Shapes? Gradients? Forget it. PageMaker doesn't even give you those options. Plus, it is not user-friendly. You claw your way up the learning curve only to find that the tools you want to use just don't exist. If you want to do any sort of creative desktop publishing work, don't go with PageMaker.

  • "Yuck!"
    on

Summary Ouch! Bad! Run-Away! This was an experience that I will NEVER repeat. I just wanted to *view* a P65 file. How come NOTHING can import one of them wacky files? Anyway, it screwed-up my Corel, I’m kinda’ bitter.
