"Ordered my $8650 system on 7/28, I am told to wait until 10/10 for my system"
Pros: Liquid Cooling, fast memory @800MHZ, fast HDD @ 10,000 rpm, nice case
Cons: Expensive, Ordered 7/28, Estimated delivery 10/10, poor communication
Summary: I ordered my system which came out to be $8,560, on the DAY IT CAME OUT.
Customer rep. said I was the third in queue for production.
At the time of purchase, I was told that the preliminary ship date for my system would be "beginning of September."
3 weeks later, they bumped my preliminary ship date to "18th of September."
Yesterday (9/18), I was told that my preliminary ship date had been moved back to "10th of October".
What made me very angry was the way the customer rep communicated this to me. When I called Alienware yesterday, the rep said to me "well at this point I'll offer you the option to eliminate the parts (from the order) that is causing the delay...If you agree to do this, your system will go into production sometime in the next 2 weeks, and it will take another 2 weeks for computer to ship. There are other systems that we must produce before we can get to yours."
Well wait a one $$$$ing minute. Damn it, my system was ordered the DAY it came out, and the rep told me that I was 3rd in line for the system I was ordering. But the rep said there were other systems being produced before mine, because the CASE of the computer system that I ordered was a faulty one? What the hell?
Is this a good business for a $8,650 machine? NO. Plus he made it sound like he was doing a favor to me by "offering the option" to eliminate the parts that is causing the delay, after almost 2 months of waiting.
I'M ANGRY.Updated
I received a phone call from the Alienware sales rep today.
To my disbelief, he told me that my order has now been pushed back to October 20th because now they have to wait 1 more week for the "watercoolant" to arrive.
To recap, I had to:
1. wait for the CPU
2. wait for the AlienFX issue to resolve
3. wait for the coolant
Furthermore, this rep had the nerve to tell me that they found out that "AlienFX" issue was resolved a DAY after I decided to eliminate AlienFX from my order.
Seriously everyone, this is the kind of service you will be subject to once you commit into a purchase with this company.
Spare yourself the wait, the agony, and frustration and steer clear of this company.
