"HIGHLY OVER-RATED CUSTOMER SERVICE!"
Pros: OK Speed when not shutting down, BENQ 21" monitor is great, Creative sound system really rocks!
Cons: HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE (NON-EXISTANT!), VERY POOR SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS, NO KEYS SENT, GETS VERY HOT1....
Summary: THIS ALIENWARE AURORA 7500, THOUGH LOADED WITH LOTS OF 'BELLS & WHISTLES' WITH 'CUTE' NAMES, IT (AND ALIENWARE CORP!) IS 'NOT READY FOPR PRIME TIME' RETAIL OPERATIONS! THIS DESKTOP HAS BEEN A HUGE SORCE OF FRUSTRATION, ANGER AND MISERY SINCE ARRIVING.
-WE SMELLED TROUBLE UPON ORDERING ON-LINE WHEN WE WERE TRYING TO PLACE OUR ORDER BEFORE A PROMOTION FOR $500 OFF EXPIRED AT MIDNIGHT THE LAST DAY OF THE MONTH. NOWHERE HOWEVER, DID THEY MENTION WHICH TIME ZONE THAT WAS, AND BEING ON THE WEST COAST WE DIDN'T WANT TO RUSH IIF UNNECESSARY. CUSTOMER SERVICE/SALES IN MIAMI CLOSES AT 11:30PM EST AND NO ONE KNEW IF THE PROMOTION WAS GOOD UNTIL MIDNIGHT IN OUR TIME ZONE OR IF IT ENDED AT 12:00 IN THEIRS!
-ANYWAY, THE MACHINE ARRIVED 2 WEEKS LATE, ONLY AFTER I'D LEFT ON VACATION.
-THEN THE REAL FUN STARTED AS PROBLEM AFTER PROBLEM POPPED UP AND OUR E-MAILS AND CALLS TO MIAMI WERE NEVER ANSWERED, OR WERE ANSWERED ONLY AFTER A WEEK (AND VERY POORLY, AT THAT), OR EVEN SNUBBED THE 2 TIMES WE GOT SOMEONE LIVE!
-NOTE: PC WORLD HAD RATED ALIENWARE 5 STARS AND MENTIONED EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE A FEW MONTHS AGO (NO LONGER).
-THE BLUE LIT ALIEN HEAD LOGO WAS COOL FOR ONLY AS LONG AS THE VERY SHORT LIFE OF THEIR SPECIAL 'BLUE GLACIAL CATHODE ... BLUE LIGHTBULB WHICH WAS ABOUT 12 DAYS. THE TOWER MUST BE OPENED BY KEY TO CHANGE THESE $9.95 BULBS, BUT OOPS, NONE WERE SENT!
-THEIR SELF-PROMOTED UNIQUE COOLING SYSTEM IS ANYTHING BUT COOL AS THE MACHINE CAN TURN A SMALL HOME OFFICE INTO A SAUNA IN UNDER 30 MINUTES ( MAYBE THIS IS WHY THE MACHINE CONTINUALLY SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING DESPITE EXCELLENT AIR CIRCULATION IN THE ROOM)
-NOT A DAY GOES BY THAT I DON'T WISH I STILL HAD MY $3500.00 AND HAD BOUGHT THE SONY VAIO I WANTED UNTIL MY 2 PC GAMING-ADDICTED ZOMBIE-LIKE FRIENDS MANIPULATED ME (I JUST WANTED A RELIABLE NEW COMPUTER FOR MY JOB!)TOWARD THIS 'E.T.' COMPUTER.
IF ANYONE ELSE IS CONSIDERING THE SAME PURCHASE, MY WORDS OF ADVICE ARE : "CAVEAT EMPTOR" (BUYER BEWARE!)
PERHAPS THE ALIENWARE FOLKS SHOULD SPEND LESS TIME THINKING UP CUTSIE WEIRD NAMES FOR PARTS AND MORE TIME LEARNING THE VALUE OF GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE AND QUALITY PRODUCTS!!!!!

It works fine. The lights all still work too.
My other Dell system heats up the room just as much. Most computers use 300WATT power supplies. Thats like having three 100W lightbulbs in a room with a fan blowing the air away from them.
If you only wanted it for buisness why would you buy a gaming system which usually needs to be tweaked anyway? Most of the stuff in thos are overclocked and have advanced BIOS that would make the average user mental.
I hate the case but they under bid Dell for the same computer configuration. If you need help try contacting the componant manufactuers. The 7500 uses an ASUS A8N deluxe motherboard with an Nvidia chipset. Usually BFG videocards. and an AMD processor. Keep trying Alienware too. I had a wierd problem and it took three calls till a got someone that knew what to do. -
I can't agree with the last poster more-I have NEVER been treated so badly as a customer by ANY company in my life.
Do a web search on Alienware complaints-in the last few months they have made a LOT of people very angry. I can't even begin to describe what I have been through with these guys-in short, I have a +4200$ charge on my credit card for nearly 60 days for a computer that NEVER WORKED-delivered with MANY problems. When I tried to return it they threatened me with a nearly 700$ restocking fee! Again, this machine NEVER worked.
My advice-Stay as far away from this company as you possibly can.
Yes- BUYER BEWARE!
