after getting a supervisor on the phone for the exchange, the exchange request went smooth (thanks anna) and she kept up with the process every step of the way
Cons
Dell had ME take apart the unit to reset the cmos before they would do anything else to help me ... really? I heard something break, unit will not post, what does reseating the cmos do for that?

after the cmos reseating didn't work, as I knew it would not and was a totally messed up thing to have me do ...
a dell technician was then sent to the house to replace the motherboard and video card which did not fix the issue, they requested I call their "software support" ... again really? it will not post!
finally got them to work out an exchange and the replacement pc booted to "no internal hard disk found" message. No hard disk showing in BIOS ... this tells me there is no way they pre tested this replacement unit!
I looked inside to see if there was a hdd, there was but it was in a hdd bay that had no cable plugged in to power it. Out of the 4 hdd bays, only ONE has power plugged into it. I changed over to that bay and voila, it booted.
So if I do decide to add more drives later, from what I see, it will be major surgery and will have to buy cable extensions to get the other hdd bay's powered up.
Sorry dell, for the price of this unit, as much as I had to be on the phone, deal with techs and do my own "repair" efforts on two systems now, PLUS re-setup up the OS with all my software and to my likings AGAIN, not very pleased at all.
Hopefully this replacement unit will last quite a few years and then I will feel a little better about the whole ordeal.
