"Overall great machine, but..."
Pros: Inexpensive, nice all in 1 package
Cons: Bulky machine, still only a G4, not enough USB ports
Summary: I'm the tech in a school district. We've got a few of the previous models of eMacs around, and I've had great luck with them. It's a pretty well designed machine. I like that it's a simple design and fairly inexpensive. However, being a CRT, it does take up a decent piece of real estate on your desk. I wish they had bumped it on up to the G5 processor with higher speed though. A .2 GHz tweak doesn't seem like much. Also lacking are enough USB ports. With all of the assorted peripherals today that require power, I like a machine with more USB ports built-in. Not everyone has a ton of things to plug in USB, but I'd rather see a machine have 5 or 6 USB ports available to the user. The eMac comes with 5 (3 on the CPU, 2 on keyboard), but 2 of those are used by the mouse and keyboard. Oh, and be sure to order the swivel base as well. Otherwise you're stuck with how the eMac sits.
Despite my complaints, I'd readily recommend the eMac as a nice, inexpensive home computer.
