"Faster than my old G5 1.6"5.0 starson by gminn
Pros: I have had the Mini for a week and it does an excellent job for what I use it for (Photoshop Express, Word, Excel, iPhoto, iMovie).
It is quiet and reasonably fast. Apple support is excellent! Consider buying the Apple Care package.
Cons: Be sure to check the Video/Audio connectors. They are excellent but require adapters for older monitors and fiber optic cables.
Summary: If you are a non-gamer, the mini is an excellent computer. I spend most of my day helping people with PC applications and have a PC at home, so I'm not anti-PC. It's just that the Mac applications are much easier to use for the average computer user.
I think the CNET Rich Brown was not wrong when he compared faster but roughly equivalent machines, but he might have talked more about the whole experience...CPU, software, support. I believe that when you consider the whole package, Mac computers are much more user friendly. When only the CPU performance statistics are cited and not the ease of use, many of us Apple users feel misunderstood.
I really appreciate the focus of Rich Brown's review and his discussion about how does a low end Mac compare to a low end PC. This is where most of us are in the computer hardware food chain.
