"Great computer & Media Center!"
4.5 starson by alpianomanPros: Front Row, Intel Duo Core
Cons: Not all TVs are completely Compatible
Summary: Well, I got a Mac Mini Core Duo for my bday and hooked it up to my Sony 34" TV. The picture is great, but I do get a little bending of black bars on the top. But I'm use to it now.
Other then that, this is a great machine. Especially Front Row. What a perfect mix of style and Media. I love it!
And contrary to what people have read, I can tell you that I can view HD files on this machine just fine. I am able to save HD content (FOX, CBS, ABC) through my cable box directly to my Mac Mini and they play the files using VLC without a hiccup!!
I love it!!Updated
My brother got me the new Mac Mini Intel for my bday. It was decked out with a 1gb of memory and a 100GB hard drive.
I have it plugged into my Sony KV-34HS510 CRT HD Television, and outside of the resolution not being exact (I still have slight bars on the top and both sides), it looks wonderful. I've gotten so use to it, that I don't even see the bars anymore. So that's just minor.
Front Row is spectacular. I love the fact that I can browser through my library of music, pictures and videos with just a touch of a button.
Also, in CNets review, it asked if the processor was strong enough for high content video...
Well, to answer that question, I have Comcast. I am able to record HD content from local channels onto my Firewire Drives connected to my Mac Mini. And when I play them back with VLC, all I can say is WOW!! Not a glitch or a hiccup.
I have the Superbowl Halftime show and I'll tell ya, Sheryl Crow looks fantastic.
