"Great machine for everyday use"
Pros: set up, os x, i life, built in blue tooth/wireless
Cons: no super drive, standard memory (but see below)
Summary: For every day use (surfing web, email, burning cd's, digital photos)and as media center this is a great machine and good way for people to get their feet wet in Mac world. This is Apples "trojan horse" to get pc users to give Macs a try. Took 20 minutes to go from box to up and running (including setting up airport extreme and express (for airtunes)network and loving it ever since.
Completely agree with last post that lack of superdrive option is a disgrace and, as usual, Apple is stingy on the memory, upgrade to minimum 1gb. But a tip is to check out Apple's website for refurbished unit. I found 1.66 with superdrive, 1gb memory and 100gb harddrive for about same price as a base 1.83 mini.
One last thing, a reply to the assertion I see a lot about "its a nice machine but I can goto wal-mart and buy an emachine for $xx amount cheaper." Good analogy is to think what kind of car you drive and then ask yourself why you dont drive a Yugo, afterall they are both cars and both will get you to your destination. And on top of that, the Yugo will save you some coin. This is not a slam on pc's, just the way people try to compare two things that are not in same class. I'll stop ranting now.
