  • "Both Beauty and a Beast! Brilliant Design! Frighteningly Fast!"

Pros: SPEED!, upgrade options, design, performance, price.

    Cons: Weight... over 40lbs

Summary: This machine is a beast! I just picked mine up about three days ago at the local apple store. I cannot believe how fast this system is. I have a few other dual proc systems in my studio that I just recently purchased in February and June, and this out performs all of them by leaps and bounds. Not only am I impressed by the design and configuration of the hardware, but I am also blown away by the Operating System. What an amazing OS! I intend to replace all of my PCs with these new MacPros. The only drawback for me is the weight of the system. I have a bad shoulder and lifting this hefty machine out of the box was no picnic. Other than that, I have absolutely no complaints! This is one beautiful system.

    ***?!?
    40 pounds, heavy?
I've seen gaming PCs reach 50-70 pounds

Wow! I wish I could have shared in your positive experience! Mine has been a total negative, right from the start. My Mac Pro is incredibly slow, compared to the PCs we have, which are not as well-endowed, memory-wise. Not to mention the work-stopping glitches that have arisen within 6 months of light use. I'm glad that your Mac is working well for you. Continued good fortune!

I have been for several years a Dell supporter. I recently[this summer I bought a Dell inspiron with everything on it. I have proceeded to have trouble every day. I can"t wait to switch over to The new MacPro

Dunno what you or Rich Brown are seeing when you look at the Mac Pro, but whatever technical virtues of the machine, the beast is pug-ugly to the extreme. I'm sure it's speedy and the interior lay-out is innovative to say the least, but the exterior? Guh! With all the other sleek, beautiful Apple designs, why is their top-of-the-line box saddled with a look straight from freshman metal shop? Most 'Doze boxes are at least inoffensive-looking, if not downright pretty (Alienware, Dell XPS, etc.). The Mac Pro is a system better used than seen. Ya think there'll be a new aftermarket in Mac Pro case covers? <img border="0" src="http://www.cnet.com/i/mb/emoticons/wink.gif" alt=";)">

Here is an idea when you get another one. Put the box on the floor cut the bottom. Open the flaps and slide the box up. Now your mac pro is out of the box with little effort. =) Hope your shoulder feels better
