Pros It works well
Cons Others in the family now want a Mac MINI also
Summary I have owned Windows 95, 98, Millenium, XP computers for the longest time. Decided to try out Apple Mac Mini, and finally got the New Mac Mini, 1.42Ghz, 512 RAM, Superdrive.
Also got a large 27in LCD HDTV/Monitor (Westinghouse with DVI input) and Apple wireless keyboard and mouse. Logitechs THX 3 piece speaker system finish the system.
Sweet, sweet, sweet. I used to think I was at fault because my Windows computers kept getting slower over time, requiring constant maintenance or reinstall of the operating system. Now I know I was hooked to the wrong operating system. I still use my Windows PC for some apllications, but it is just a matter of time before I completely move over.
The MAC Mini just works well. All the applications open swiftly and are fun to look at and work with. I am a MAC newbie, so I am learning. So far I am impressed with this machine. I don't think it is blazing fast by any means, but I didn't buy it for gaming or major video editing. It just works. No error messages. Not once.
When I put the computer into "sleep" mode, this occurs almost instantaneously. Standby or hibernation on Windows PC takes an eternity. I am writing this while listening to music and also have iPhoto editing windows open. Not a single hiccup. Things just work. It reminds me of my college days when I used to do word processing on a MAC. You typed, printed, logged off, took your disc out.
Safari web browser is faster than IE, or appers to be. Websites load very fast. Photos edit fast. iTunes works well managing my music. I have not tried any video editing yet---I have invested too much on Adobe for Windows. That is why I have not totaly moved over yet.
The kids and wife want to play with my Mini. No way. Not yet.
Pros iLife, OSX, Fits anywhere, Speedy with right amount of ram
Cons Not for extreme gaming
Summary This is a sweet piece of technology. iLife, iTunes, OSX all on this sweet little monster makes this machine awesome. GarageBand is a great tool for making music. If your a PC owner thinking of making the switch, this is perfect for you. NO spyware, NO viruses, all makes this mac a great buy. If you go with at least 512mb of ram, either of the mini's will be great. If you can go for the 1 gig, this mac is perfect. All you need,in one small, sweet looking package.

Pros Great addition to Home Theatre except . .
Cons No digital audio out
Summary Please, please add the mini optical out available on Airport Express. I promise to buy one then. I want to hook this little gem up to my home theatre (and play itunes through my audio system). The airport express (and Powerbooks) show you know how to do this. So do it.
Pros Small, light, compact, inexpensive.
Cons NONE to the best of my knowledge
Summary MY MAC MINI IS BETTER THAN MY 2000 Dollar dell
Pros Very versatile, dosn't do on thing great but can handle alot of things fairly well, great design.
Cons Poor 32MB Graphics card, minimum expandablity
Summary The Mac Mini is designed for PC switchers who just want a Mac to get on the internet, do light WP, DVD playback, etc. The mini can also handle final cut pro and some of the more heavy cpu/gpu software, just not like the iMac or Power Mac.
This is my first experience with the Apple and it has been overall a good one. The mini is affordable and allows the user to use most of OS X. I use the mini for surfing the internet, playing video games, dvd playback, light photo editing and playing and burning music. The Mini handles all these task well without a lot of loading time. It's fast for a 1.25 G4 and 512MB of ram is enough to multi task. My biggest gripe is the 32MB graphics card that comes with it is way underpowered, even though I know Apple didn't intend the mini as a gaming machine 32MB should be illegal that is the bare minimum to run the most meager of games.
Overall I would recommend the mini to everyone, I think no household should be w/o at least one Mac and the mini would be a perfect addtion to a home network or like me a good first Mac.
