"Great computer for the family."4.5 starson by tanderson-cnet
Pros: OSX, performance, quality, software, price, Apple!
Cons: Only 2 USB ports.
Summary: I bought this computer for my family because I got tired of spending too much time having to constantly repair and debug our former 2 year old Dell PC. If you ask me, Windows XP (or any Windows o/s) is nothing but problems.
What a refreshing upgrade. This mac mini is by far the best desktop computer I have ever purchased. It packs plenty of power for standard computing tasks such as web surfing, email, word processing, and most games. Not once has the mac mini crashed, not once has it "blue screened". I can't even say it has ever had even the smallest "bug". I did buy, and do recommend, going with the 1GB of RAM upgrade.
This mini mac runs circles around the so-called top-of-the-line Dell I bought 2 years ago for too much money. It is light years ahead - everything just works. The Dell worked well for about a month, and then it was a steady stream of problems (mostly due to Windows, not Dell).
It comes with iLife which has iPhoto which is the best photo management software I have ever used. I am new to Apple and I am so impressed that I can safely say my Windows-Dell days are in the past and I'm so happy to have a compuer that finally WORKS. Without having to reload the o/s several times a year. What a refreshing experience.
At around $600 this computer is awesome. Great performance for the price. I highly recommend the mini to anyone who is fed up with the problem-prone Windows world. Keep Windows in your office - and out of your home!!!
I would have rated the mini a 10 if it had more than 2 USB ports. Then I wouldn't need a USB hub.
